Questions on zip line proposal
To the Editor:
How can the people of Rumford give away 6.7 acres of river front land (lot #250), without more guarantees? What are the longterm plans and the time lines for building the zip lines? Who are the backers? Most importantly, if the project closes down in the future, does the land revert to the town? Who would pay to dismantle what has been built and return the land to its present condition?
Why is the town selling the land for $1, without an independent appraisal?
Has the DEP approved any land disturbance along the river?
What protection from liability does the town have, if there is an accident?
We like the idea of the zip line to bring people here, but must have guarantees that will protect the library, its parking lot and the Chisholm Park.
