Outgoing tax collector says thanks
To the Editor:
Dear Rumford citizens:
I want all of you to know that I have truly enjoyed the experience of serving you as the tax collector for the Town of Rumford.
I appreciate your voting me into this position three years ago and had anticipated being here a long time. However, circumstances in the NewPage mill have improved. I have been offered the opportunity of returing there at the same capacity I had prior to the manpower reduction in February of 2009. I have decided to accept that opportunity.
This is a very positive sign of the state of the company and economy and should be looked upon as such.
I will never forget the campaigning associated with getting the position of tax collector. Having knocked on so many doors in April 2009 to introduce myself, I was reminded how nice and receptive the folks in Rumford are.
The people I have worked with in the municipal building are exceptional and friendships have been fostered there that will last a lifetime. I have learned a lot about what it takes to keep a town running. The responsibility of each position requires dedication, attention to detail and specific skills. Rumford can be very proud to be represented by this group of committed employees at the town hall.
The support you have all shown toward me throughout my tenure as tax collector has been heartwarming and I will never forget it. Thank you all so much.
