Thanks for supporting 2013 Area Summer Games
To the Editor:
On May 16, Oxford County Special Olympics hosted the 2013 Area Summer Games at Hosmer Field in Rumford.
There are so many people to thank, as everyone knows "team" work is what allowed this event to be successful.
We served over 200 athletes participating in track and field events. The coaches, family members, volunteers and support staff gave a total to the event 287 people on Hosmer Field enjoying a sun filled day.
The Area Directors would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2013 Area Summer Games. We want to especially thank Carlo Puiia, Rumford Town Manager; Oxford Sheriff Dept. Tom Harriman; Parks Dept. Mike Mills and his crew; National Guard Allen Hill, Rumford Police Dept. Doug Maifeld, Tracy Higley, Dan Carrier, Med-Care, all teachers and volunteers from the RSU #10 with a special thank you to Raquel Welch for her efforts to host our games.
Also, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Broomhall, Dawn Pressey, Jen Smith, Cara Maloney, Ken Ruff, who make our job easier. Thank you coaches who trained the athletes for their events and the family members who support them, and to Poland Springs and Chrissy Bubier for the donations of water for the athletes.
