Seniors receive "Maybaskets"
To the Editor:
Elderwood Manor in Andover recently received nice "Maybaskets" from the Student Council of Andover Elementary School.
The morning of May 1 brought several youth and Dee Nadeau, council advisor, from door to door with Maybaskets. These contained several gifts and candy. These contained several gifts and candy.
I was very surprised as I've never heard of anyone doing Maybaskets anymore. The last time I can remember getting/giving one was about 1957. I was in North Pownal Elementary School, first or second grade, and it was fun! North Pownal (Maine) had eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse at that time, too.
Andover Elementary is to be congratulated on its schooling, caring, even in these times of controversey on education. Community citizenship was shown and is part of good round of learning experience. Thank you for the memories kids.
