Peru committee has the right stuff
To the Editor:
Kudos to Mr. Jim Pulsifer and the Peru Committee for the excellent wind ordinance they produced for the Town of Peru. The ordinance is robust and will more than likely withstand any procedural or substantive legal challenges. The ordinance also reflects the will and desires of the majority of the people of Peru.
Many people have thanked Mr. Pulsifer for the long hard work of the committee but I have seen too many one-legged elephants created by committees that worked long and hard but forgot common sense to thank them for their efforts. The one legged elephants some committees create cost more to maintain and protect than they cost to create. There is no doubt that Mr. Pulsifer and the committee worked long and hard but they did the right thing -- created a practical solution to a complex problem that is going to last without causing us additional grief.
Finally, Mr. Pulsifer and the committee showed that citizens of Peru can work together on a hard project over a long period of time and have their respect and admiration grow for each other. That is not a trivial accomplishment in and of itself.
Thank you Mr. Pulsifer and committee. Y'all have the right stuff.
