EnvisionRumford thank you
To the Editor:
On Sept. 14, EnvisionRumford organized the Rumford Heritage Festival as a community event for the Crossroads International Celtic Festival.
It was a wonderful day for the community and visitors to the area with exotic food, a variety of crafts, and fabulous Celtic music. Many thanks to the Festival planning committee who made this event possible: Tammi Lyons, Jack and Charlotte Davis, Jim Rinaldo, Barb Rajaniemi, Catherine Johnson, Nancy Allen, Kevin Saisi, Cherry Smith and Mia Purcell.
Organizing any event requires a tremendous amount of commitment in time and resources. In addition to members of the planning committee, many volunteers helped with this event: Dieter Kreckel, John and Barbara Bartash, who hosted the jam session at Stella’s and broadcasted Celtic music during the day, Amanda Houston, Donna Bucher, Carol Emery, Dick Lovejoy, Bernie Pare, Randall Smith, who serenaded everyone on the bagpipes throughout the day, Praise Assembly of God which let us borrow folding chairs, the Town of Rumford, which loaned us folding tables, Jeff Sterling for printing the beautiful schedule of events for the Festival that Cherry Smith created, everyone who made ethnic food, crafters and artisans who participated in the craft faire, Phill McIntyre, who invited musicians to join the jam session, local musicians who participated in the jam session, Louanne Thibodeau, who organized children’s activities, the River Valley Chamber of Commerce, which loaned EnvisionRumford its sandwich boards, and Peter Hatzis, who let EnvisionRumford use his building for the ethnic food faire.
The next event organized by EnvisionRumford will be the second annual Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, October 12. A whole day of fun activities for everyone -- children and adults alike -- is planned on the Island. So, join the fun on Congress Street!
