A "no" vote on the third Rumford wind ordinance
To the Editor:
The third Rumford wind facility ordinance is completed for a November vote.
I recommend for the citizens to check the language of this third ordinance for the town website or get a copy at the town office.
This ordinance has many negative items towards a wind facility locating in Rumford. If this ordinance is accepted, it would be a "no" vote for any wind power facility locating in Rumford.
The anti-wind people I believe accept the New England power sources now in effect producing over 50 percent of these emissions.
These emissions are listed:
* Carbon dioxide is considered a major contributor to global warming;
* Nitrogen oxide is considered contributors to acid rain;
* Sulfur dioxide contributes to major health effects, asthma, respiratory illness and aggravation of existing cardiovascular disease, to name a few.
The pro-wind people want to help clean our air and support all the New England states with wind power projects and reduce fossil fuels.
I will be voting "no" on the negative Rumford wind facility ordinance.
