It isn't right
To the Editor:
There is never enough time to stop and ask, but I’m sure citizens who pay out of sight property taxes are wondering if the money is being well spent.
It is extremely difficult to get answers to how finances work within town hall. Maybe it is supposed to be that way.
We, as taxpayers, fill the purse and the heads in charge pull the strings. I would simply like to know how $10,000 which we, as voters, approved during a prior town meeting to install/repair the town garage roof got appropriated to a different fund.
On top of that, no one seems to know what the money was spent on. I am afraid accountability has been minimized by our town officials. When appropriations don't equate with the decisions made by the citizens at the town meeting, it isn't right.
