We need to market ourselves
To the Editor:
I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me, even though I am not going to represent us.
I hope the people voted in have some new ideas to generate revenue. Why don't we use what we have.
This river hasn't been fished in a long time. There are trophy fish in these waters. What don't we get music on weekends, have some fishing tournaments, have our flea market going. A fishing tournament every weekend from Memorial Bridge to Hanover until we make the cover of Field & Stream.
Bring in tourists every weekend with music, food and fishing for starters. We need to market ourselves; making brochures, a web site, Maine Guides service...We need to get the word out there and marketing is a big factor. The cost is low for a web site. We need to keep our overhead down. We can start with music jams. Set up the speakers and mikes and give our locals a chance.
Also, canoe rentals to see the eagles and stop at the islands. Camping is open on the islands and no one is marketing that. With the right technique, Rumford could be the place to go on weekends for family and friends.
