You may have some missing money
REGION -- Senator John Patrick (D-Rumford) is urging Maine residents to check the state database for unclaimed property.
“In this time of economic difficulty, it is especially rewarding to be able to put some money back in our pockets,” said Senator Patrick.
“It is a great feeling to discover money that you didn’t know you had. I encourage everyone to look out for their own names on the list, as well as those of their friends and family members.”
Every year the Office of the State Treasurer releases its annual list of unclaimed property, which consists of money and other personal assets that are considered lost or abandoned when an owner cannot be located.
There is no fee to process an unclaimed property claim. Residents may go online to search for unclaimed property at http://www.maine.gov/treasurer/unclaimed_property.
