Return Christmas traditions
To the Editor:
Christmas in the Valley -- what a great event.
The floats in the parade were well done and the parade was awesome. Homes and store fronts are decorated with Christmas greens, ribbon, bows, cones, etc. Each home has its own special theme and look of wonder.
One of my favorite symbols of Christmas has always been the giant, colorful Christmas tree at the end of Congress Street that Santa lights following the parade. Just hearing the excitement in the little ones voices as they see the colors is wonderful. But it is missing this year.
Christmas is a worldwide event and I believe every color has a special meaning to someone. The Rumford Fire Department has always done a great job putting up the lights and I can't help but feel a little sad that this is missing this year. The multi-trees are well done and shows a lot of work, and might be the choice for my home but as a community I would like to see us return to the tradition of the giant tree and the colors of Christmas.
Christmas is love and wonder and I wish everyone a very merry Christmas.
