They should rent the land
To the Editor:
Why hasn't there been more public information about the plan (plot) to sell prime real estate along the river to a group of business men for a single dollar?
This would seem to be a rather incredible breach of the public trust to maintain and keep the land for the library and the walkway along the river. We have heard almost nothing about this business deal. Why is that?
The people of Rumford deserve to have the public lands maintained as such and not virtually given to the lowest bidder. I do hope that the citizens of town will have access to more information about this scheme.
Right now is sounds like someone is hoping to get their hands on precious land for almost nothing under the guise of doing something for the town...something like building a zip line across the river.
If these entrepreneurs want to have a zip line across the river, they should rent the land from the town.
