Service Not Self
I hope this finds all of you in good health as we approach Christmas and the coming New Year. The Auxiliary has been busy as usual finding fun ways to raise funds to support our Legion and Auxiliary programs.
We held our annual member’s Christmas party on December 10. It was such a fun evening! We had a fabulous meal. Kelly D. cooked a wonderful prime rib along with support of the rest of the ladies to round off a perfect meal. The hall was elegantly decorated by Pam and Donna along with all their helpers.
The kitchen crew Susan R., Kathy R., Alicia Y, Sheila W., Martha W., Pam M., Donna C., Doris M., Kelly D. and I worked diligently to bring everyone a superb meal. John D. and Rena N. did a great job with our raffle. Of course we had support from many Legionnaires as well. Noel and Don entertained us with a variety of music to dance the evening away.
The Auxiliary and SAL supported the Legion by providing the Mexican supper during their comedy night. If you missed it, you missed a very hilarious night. People were still telling me their cheeks hurt the next day from laughing so hard. Bryan L. provided music to those who were able to stay after the show. The Legion hopes to have the comedians back sometime in the near future. So be ready!
We would like to thank all those who have sent in donations to our Comforts From Home program in memory of Eric Richard. Thank you Tammy for suggesting this in memory of your husband. We continue to send out packages to our deployed troops in Afghanistan. God bless our troops and may he keep them safe from harm.
Auxiliary members please pay your dues as soon as possible. Dues are currently $15 per year. Those who have not paid for 2011 can do so before December 31. Doing so will ensure that you keep your years of service. Those wishing to join our Unit please stop by the Rumford Legion to pick up an application.
There will be an all you can eat New Year’s Day brunch served from 10 a.m. to noon or till sold out. Cost is $10 per person for members and guests. This event will be served on the hall side.
Our second annual Super Benefit is in the planning stages. We will get the info out to everyone as soon as we have all the details.
Indoor yard sale: Get your items ready! You provide the treasures we will provide the space. Information and cost will be provided soon.
It has been a pleasure to bring you our updates. Our unit works hard to support our Veterans. Without your community support we would not be able to make all the wonderful things we do happen.
There is a change of date for our next monthly membership meeting due to the holiday. We will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 8th. Supper will be served at 5 p.m. Cost is $5. Many things are happening and we could certainly use your support. Hope to see you there.
