The Chamber Chatter
I am returning from a wonderful two-week Maine Coast vacation with my family (once again an unbelievable great time with the best people) and I am just getting back into the swing of things.
We had a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 16 at Lisa’s Barber Shop located at 178 Main St. in Mexico. She has really done a nice job fixing up the building itself including new signage and an actual barber pole! You will have to stop by for a walk in haircut and say hi to Lisa and peruse (I like using that word) the nice facility. Thanks to all who were there for the event especially the two RVCC directors who made an effort to show up while on vacation. I hope you enjoyed your haircut Bruce!
On Wednesday, August 28 the River Valley Chamber of Commerce is having a ribbon cutting ceremony for Kreckel Law, P.A. (Jennifer Kreckel) at 9:30 a.m., located at 95 Congress St. in Rumford. She has done major renovations and sprucing of all the office space. Look for a Business After Hours Event for Kreckel Law, P.A. sometime in September.
One again many thanks to all the Rumford Information Center volunteers who help our visitors on a daily basis. Much like the Wizard of Oz I am behind the curtain (so to speak) and I am privy to what is going on at the welcome counter. Our volunteers are very adept at helping our many Canadian friends (French or English speaking) with local information (lodging, food and recreation) or directions needed and in the case of an Australian couple (from Brisbane) who wanted to, “see a moose”. Of course on that one I had to pipe in from behind the wall that, I would, “call ahead to make sure they (the moose) knew you are coming and would meet you at Beaver Pond!" I did explain that I was just kidding and the volunteer explained the best times and locations for them to hopefully be successful with their “moose search.”
