What about a roller blade park?
To the Editor:
It has become known that our young are in need of a place to enjoy something like a roller blade park where they can show their stuff per say. I know Bethel has one right next to the Route 26 area.
Why is it that Rumford and Mexico have all this open property and cannot put in something like this.
Are our town officals so afraid that they cannot police this style area? Or are they afraid that the insurance on this would be way too much?
I'm not sure how this works but being a citizen of Mexico, I'm willing to go to Bethel and find out more information on this style park.
We, the elderly of our area, need to be more tolerant of our young and help them become good young adults and make sure they have the things to work with. It's our town's future that is walking out of state to find jobs.
Recreation is a major part of growing up even giving them a chance to put some of their ideas into the job market would show that we still care.
Being a veteran and living here since 1971, I have seen a few leave and not return, I've seen some come home broken and living on the streets or on welfare, their dreams dashed because of our elders not giving them a chance. We need to be more into helping and stop this; allow more business in and even though it be small, it will grow with proper help.
It's just a roller blade park. Give in and help our young grow into good productive adults. Let's start getting involved with the younger ones and using their ideas on how to make this area better.
