Legion Valve Cover Race

To the Editor:

Coming on the 20th of February, American Legion Post #24 will be holding the Annual Valve Cover Race.

To all the citizens in the River Valley area and throughout the state, come and enjoy the fun. We have the track and the place, our champion is ready to be raced.

This annual race is open to the public. Come try for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies. Each American Legion Post, come try for the Chapter and Post plaques that are held at our place.

Come and enjoy the fun and see if your car is ready to run the track.

We based our fun on something our kids and grand-kids do now. The Boy Scouts have given us the idea of CDs for wheels, but our new modified class allows wheels. The main stipulation in the car is a valve cover. The width can be no wider than 8 inches outside to outside of the wheels.

Come to Rumford at the American Legion Hall, 184 Congress St.

The cost is $7 for entry. This is to go towards the Legacy Foundation.

Now to make this even more fun, we are putting up a trophy that will be a turn around trophy. This one means that the over all winner must bring it back next year to challenge all new comers.

The American Legion Riders are ready for you.

Ed Ellis,

American Legion Riders,

Director Post #24
