Questions asked on wind issue

To the Editor:

John Starr has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to Rumford politics.

The anti-wind, anti-business people have been making threats and accusations for months now. Former Selectman James Thibodeau disrupted a meeting to accuse Selectman Mark Belanger of taking a bribe from First Wind.

Selectman Greg Buccina has not only made the same accusation in public, but he was crude enough to ask Selectmen Belanger and Adley if they were getting paid for their support of wind power. If anyone is getting paid for the position on this subject, it's Buccina.

Buccina has swallowed every bit of junk science offered as being Gospel. He accepts reports from off-the-wall fringe groups as being fact and then suggest that the scientist that created studies for the state are on the take.

He read a four-page epistle at a public meeting that was obviously written for him. Since the Dixmont anti-wind anti-business ordinance was defeated, Buccina has continually tried to slip it back in under a new name.

Who is paying you Greg? Is it an oil company? Is it a landowner that didn't get the offer he wanted for transmission lines? Is it someone on the rigged ordinance committee? Who are you to defy the voters?

If Rumford continues to follow the lead of people like Selectman Buccina, we might as well change the signs from River Valley to Death Valley.

Rumford
