Wind stall

To the Editor:

It is unfortunate that the Town of Rumford has four selectpersons stalling the process for taking the DEP’s Model and working it like the Town of Phillips did to assure that Rumford gets safe and financial benefits from wind power development.

Except for the two newest selectpersons, all have sat down, in length, with First Wind and discussed what we would like to see happen for our town. Our representation on the board on this matter is disheartening.

They should be sitting down with First Wind and using the DEP’s model and developing what is best for Rumford. But the stalling four just want to keep placing moratoriums as and excuse tactic for getting and easy document done because their strings are being controlled by the anti winders.

Prime example is the refusal of our local access channel not airing a news clip out of New Hampshire that sheds some light on wind power. It takes about ten minutes to view. What’s their excuse for not showing it? Is it to short? Then rerun it over and over to cover the allotted time.

Oh, I forgot that the access channel‘s board are anti-winders. They don’t want to let the citizens, who by the way, have voted in favor of wind power already to view what the first wind farm in New Hampshire has accomplished for their region.

NewPage has shut another mill in Wisconsin. What a scary thought! Chop! Chop! It could happen to us! There are no assurances. But yet our board can’t handle threats by the anti-winders and do the job that they were voted into office to do. That is what the citizens want for their town.

If there are any on the take on the board, it is the four, who are on the take from promises of the anti-winders. And the board member who made the accusation of a fellow member doing so in a public meeting should have been recalled or made to apologize. Right Mr. Buccina?

But of course, our local channel did tape that meeting to show the arrogance that is running our town.
