PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK -- Faith and George Blanchard look on as Rumford Police Chief Stacy Carter (left) and Administrative Officer Matt Desroches properly dispose of the returned prescription drugs from the Blanchards Saturday during the prescription drug take back initiative. Rumford police, along with other police departments, partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency in a nationwide initiative to properly dispose of these unwanted prescriptions in an attempt to reduce the risk of accidental overdose by small children and others who mistook them for other medications. The Blanchards said this is a fantastic program because they did not want to hang on to this prescriptions drugs, concerned that they might fall into the hands of their grandchildren.
