Troop B highlights
Trooper Farley was able to locate two motor vehicle burglary suspects thanks to Trooper Hanson. Trooper Farley had previously sent out a picture of the possible suspect vehicle. While working patrol, Trooper Hanson located the vehicle and was able to stop it. He passed his information to Trooper Farley who interviewed the operator of the vehicle. The operator named a second suspect and confessed to this car burglary along with one covered by Trooper Bureau. Trooper Farley later interviewed the second suspect and he confessed as well.
Both subjects implicated themselves in numerous other burglaries in the area. The two will be charged
accordingly. Trooper Farley will be attempting to locate the other car burglaries and contact the reporting agencies.
Trooper Huckins and Trooper Tirado responded to family disturbance in Otisfield. The female complainant called to report that she needed help because "he was outside with a loaded 22 rifle." and then she hung up.
Upon investigation the troopers learned that the couple had been drinking, taking drugs and arguing that evening and the complainant walked out of the house with a 357 hand gun. By her admission she was sitting in a snow bank contemplating suicide. Her husband went outside to help her and she threw the 357 into the woods.
They went back inside and the husband picked up the 22 rifle and removed the bolt so the weapon could not be used. He then went outside to look for the 357, that's when she had called. She was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.
Trooper Wing stopped a vehicle for a defective plate light. Upon contact with the driver and through the use of his MDT it was determined the operator was suspended for failing to pay fines. The male was summonsed for OAS-Infraction and released.
Trooper Cote stopped a vehicle on Route 2 in Bethel. The adult female operator was found to have a suspended license for failure to pay fines and for failure to maintain liability insurance. She was summonsed for operating after suspension and possession of a suspended license.
Trooper Wing went to serve a summons on a male in reference to a case he presented to the DA's office. Upon contact with the male it was determined that he had a warrant for unpaid fines. After confirming it he was arrested on the warrant and taken to OCJ.
Trooper Huckins charged a Buckfield woman for violation of a protective order and violation of bail conditions after an investigation indicated that she was in possession of a pit-bull dog in violation of the protective order and bail conditions. Several years ago the woman owned a pit-bull that violently attacked her neighbor who was out gardening.
Trooper Cote stopped a vehicle on Sabattus Street in Lewiston. The adult male operator was found to have an active Cumberland County warrant for displaying a fictitious sticker. The warrant was confirmed and he was arrested. He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.
Trooper Cote arrested an adult male on the Allen Pond Road in Greene after it was learned that he had an active warrant out of Androscoggin County for failing to appear on a theft charge. He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.
Trooper Wing stopped at a residence after noticing a vehicle parked partially in the travel lane. When Trooper Wing attempted to make contact with people inside he noticed a case of beer on the counter and what appeared to be person's under the age of 21 inside. One of the subjects also had an open beer in front of her. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of four subjects for furnishing a place for minors to consume and one for furnishing liquor to minors. Also two of the arrestees were minors and were summonsed for consuming liquor as well.
Trooper Cote stopped a vehicle on Center Street in Auburn. The adult male operator was found to have a suspended license. After a search of his vehicle, seven ounces of processed marijuana was located under his driver’s seat. He had just purchased the contraband in Lewiston and was heading to Turner with it. He was arrested and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where he was summonsed for unlawful furnishing in Schedule Z drugs (marijuana), operating after suspension, and possession of a suspended license.
