Mahoosuc Community Band to perform

BETHEL -- The Mahoosuc Community Band is excited to perform its spring concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 at the West Parish Congregational Church.

This spring's concert includes a variety of traditional and patriotic music. New numbers include All Aboard, a trombone medley of This Train is Bound for

Glory; A Simple Song, by Leonard Bernstein; Tritsch-Tratsch Polka by Johann Straus; An American Spectacular; and The Yellow Rose of Texas featuring Julie

Schubert-Cowan on trumpet.Donations to assist with music purchases and equipment help the community band provide music for the surrounding towns.

The band, directed by Patricia Boyle-Wight, is preparing for the summer, with Memorial Day parades, music at Waterford’s music celebration July 29, and end of the summer concert Monday, August 13 at 7 p.m. at Gould Academy Bingham Hall in Bethel.

The band rehearses on Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the West Parish Congregational Church. New members are always welcome. How long has it been since you picked up that clarinet or that trumpet? In only takes a little time to blow that dust off, get your lip in shape and remember the fingering. Maybe you need to buy a new reed or gets those valves oiled. Music is something to enjoy throughout our lifetime. Young people from area middle schools or high schools are welcome to join the band for the summer or the fall.
