PES Family Fun Fridays
PERU -- Calling all parents of children in grades K-5 in the RSU 10 area:
Starting on Friday, Oct. 11, there will be Family Fun Fridays at the Old Peru Elementary School.
Each Friday from 6-8 p.m., there will be an event for elementary (K-5) kids with a cost of $1 per kid and $1 for adults. The events will include dances, pajama movie nights, karaoke and unplugged board/card game nights.
Kindergarten and first graders will need to have a parent/adult attend every week. Parents of children in grades 2-5 may earn a PES Family Fun Night Drop Off Pass by volunteering one week for either setup, cleanup or chaperone. Parents can communicate on the facebook page (PES Family Fun Nights) if they would like to volunteer for an event and there will be a sign-up sheet at the entrance each week.
The night a parent volunteers, they will be given a Special PES Family Fun Night Drop Off Pass that can be used for another event. The child will need to have a completed permission/ emergency contact slip and still pay the $1admission when using the Drop Off Pass. Parents will get the opportunity to have a child-free Friday night as a reward for volunteering. As long as there is an adult present, preschool siblings or middle school siblings are welcome to attend. Please keep in mind that the activities are geared towards the elementary school children.
They also be encourage any high school students looking for community service hours to volunteer. Student volunteers will be asked to help with set-up, running the snack area, clean-up and helping on game nights. They welcome any middle school or high school student that would like to volunteer their time to be a disc jockey on dance/karaoke nights to contact Gail True at 650-7939.
Snacks and drinks will be available for sale each week for a low price of 50cents -- snack choices will include individual bags of chips, granola bars, cheese and crackers and fruit cups and drinks will include Capri sun, apple juice, Hawaiian punch and small bottles of water. Of course on movie nights, they will be selling popcorn.
All admission revenues are being donated to the friends of Peru Elementary towards heating and electricity for the school. The events are being put on FPES members Gail True and Gerry Thibodeau.
If anyone would like to donate kids music CD’s, karaoke CD’s or board games, they can be dropped off to PES during weekdays 9 a.m. to noon downstairs or Thursdays 2:30-4:30 p.m. using the front entrance. If you need items to be picked up, please call Gail True 650-7939 or post on their Facebook group PES Family Fun Fridays. They will use the Facebook page to communicate scheduled events.
For the first Family Fun Night on Oct. 11, they will have a pajama movie night. Kids are encouraged to wear pajamas and to bring a pillow or favorite stuffed animal to cuddle with at the movie. Please go to the facebook group and vote for which movie you would like to see -- the first with 10 votes will be the winner. The movie choices are as follows: Aladdin, Up, Wall-E, Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland.
October 18 will be a karaoke night. They will give out karaoke request slips at the door. Each child will get one slip. Kids can join together to sing or sing with an adult. It would be fun to see parents get up and sing on stage with their children. Kids who don’t want to sing are more than welcome to just come out and dance on Karaoke nights too.
