An air-head balloon festival
Aug 05, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Recently, 49 Franklin hosted the Air-Head Balloon Festival.
The event featured the amazing and zany Jer Remian and the incredible and foolish antics of Scot Grassette.
Remian performed his amazing and wacky stunts for families. His specialty is his giant balloon creations. Youngsters marvelled at the giant birds, masks, hats, and zoo animals.

Hospital auxiliary purchases solarium furniture

Artwork for patient rooms, also purchased by the Auxiliary, is awaiting hanging.
Miracles still happen

In the summer of 2009, they began talking about the possibility of needing to expand their current church facility, located on the corner of Weld and Blayne Streets in Dixfield.
Russell in upcoming musical production
Aug 05, 2011 12:00 amAUBURN -- Richard Russell, a graduate of Mtn. Valley High School, has a role for Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre's production of "Jekyll & Hyde the Musical" opening Friday at Lewiston Middle School Auditorium, Central Avenue.
Russell is a sophomore at University of Maine at Farmington and has been active in the spring and fall theater productions at UMF and also in the One Act Festival. He is a counselor at Black Mountain Day Camp in Rumford and is assisting in teaching at Mtn. Valley High School this summer. He is the son of Ronald and Lisa Russell of Rumford.
BEACON HOSPICE EXCELLENCE AWARD

On June 13, the staff of Victorian Villa attended the award ceremony recognizing their professional contributions to care for the terminally ill. The award was received by Mark Jacobs.
Andover Olde Home Days begins Friday
Aug 05, 2011 12:00 amANDOVER -- This area's longest continuous celebration -- Andover Olde Home Days -- will get underway this Friday.
This year's theme is "Main Street Andover" to celebrate all the old time memories of life on Main Street & maybe make some new ones.
The three-day event will actually kickoff Thursday with the judging of the Gardens, which includes the following categories: flowers, veggies, mixed, organic and flower design (container and hangers), and the Violet Swain category (single Genus), as well as new gardens up to three years, established four years or older.
Black Mountain expands race program
Aug 05, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Black Mountain of Maine is excited to announce that it will be expanding its junior alpine race program for the next ski season.
Mark Thibodeau has been hired as the alpine program director. Thibodeau was the race program director at Mt. Abram Ski Resort for the past nine years and was the Leavitt High School coach for 12 years. His team won four state championships, and he was named Maine Coach of the Year in 2002.
