Gov. LePage visits Rumford
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- On June 25, Governor Paul Lepage joined a sold out crowd at the Happy Days Celebration at the 49 Franklin Reception Center.
The Governor was joined by the First Lady, Anne, his daughter, Lauren LePage, and his mother-in-law, Rita DeRosby. The bi-partisan group of revelers, including local business, community and political leaders, gathered to let off a little steam at a summer party and to celebrate the actions taken by the LePage Administration and the Legislature aimed at restoring fiscal responsibility and declaring Maine as Open For Business.
Source to the Sea Trek to begin
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amREGION -- Hundreds of people will navigate a 170-mile length of the Androscoggin River this summer in canoes and kayaks during the Androscoggin River Watershed Council's 16th annual Source to the Sea Trek
The Trek will begin July 8 with a sunset paddle near Lake Umbagog, the source of the Androscoggin, said Jessie Seymour Perkins, program coordinator, in a news release.
Lake Umbagog straddles the Maine-New Hampshire line in northern Oxford County.

Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amREGION -- New England Celtic Arts will present the Colin Grant Band at the Franco American Heritage Center in Lewiston on Tuesday, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in South Carthage on Wednesday, July 13, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity on Thursday, July 14, and at Fisherman's Wharf Inn, Boothbay Harbor on Friday, July 15.
Curtain at the Franco Center and Skye is 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Unity. There will be two shows at FWI at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Pre-show jam sessions at Skye and Unity start one hour prior to curtain.
Outside Track tours in Maine

Curtain is at 7 p.m. at Skye and 7:30 p.m. in Unity. There is a pre-show jam session 45 minutes prior to curtain at Skye and Unity. Audience members are encouraged to bring their instruments and jam with the artists for a few minutes.
Nosek receives prestigious award

Three years later, the result is a new house custom designed to fit the needs of Jennifer, severely handicapped since age 13, to enable her to live independently in a home that she can call her own.
Heart advocates donate lifesaving device

An official dedication ceremony took place on June 6, at their location to mark National CPR/AED Awareness Week.

Bridging ceremoney held for area Girl Scouts
Jul 01, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- The six scouting troops who make up the Telstar District held a Neighborhood Bridging Ceremony on May 16 in Muskie Auditorium at Mountain Valley High School.
There were 50 participants, with 31 of them bridging.
Bridging Dailies of Troop 1512 were Jordan Hutchins and Jordan Knox, with Leaders Katie Gallant and Jessica Robbins presenting them with a rainbow badge, pins, etc. after they crossed the bridge.
