Child Advocacy Day on May 4
Apr 26, 2013 12:00 amRUMFORD -- The Rumford Eagles will hold a Child Advocacy Day and fundraiser for area youth on Saturday, May 4.
Promoting and instilling quality community values in our youth is something the Eagles stand behind. Each year, the organization holds a Child Advocacy Day contest. The contest requires that local Aeries/Auxiliaries host an event in their community that teaches area youth safety, protection, prevention and other health and welfare activities.
Public hearing on Rumford growth plan update
Apr 26, 2013 12:00 amRUMFORD -- The Rumford Comprehensive Plan Update Committee will conduct a public hearing on their proposal from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rumford Falls Auditorium.
The purpose is to give the public an opportunity to learn about the plan update, ask questions and provide the committee with any concerns, committee Chairman Kevin Saisi said Tuesday in a news release.
Peak-a-Week Schedule 2013
Apr 19, 2013 12:00 amAnyone wishing to join these weekly hikes is welcome, they are open to the public of any skill level, and hikes are not formally canceled. Please hike at your own risk. Hikers will gather at the Rumford Information Center on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. to carpool to the trailhead. Expect snow on the first couple of hikes, be prepared and remember snacks, flashlight and other survival tools.

Special town meeting for school funding
Apr 19, 2013 12:00 amANDOVER- There will be a special town meeting on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the town hall to see if citizens will agree to raising an additional $72,000 to fund the elementary school for the 2013-2014 school year.
During the annual town meeting in March, citizens haggled over whether or not to raise $100,000 to help in negotiations with the SAD 44 board. To no avail, voters rejected the proposal and decided to offer $68,000, the same as in 2011.
