Fight Night VI on Feb. 2
Jan 25, 2013 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Following a career in wresting, there was very few options to further test skills on a mat. Then mixed-martial arts came along and the competitive fires was rekindled.
That has certainly been the case for Jesse Peterson, who is scheduled to step back in to the cage when New England Fight Night VI returns to the Androscroggin Bank Colisee on Feb. 2 in Lewiston.
LBI takes over top spot in MVRBL
Jan 25, 2013 12:00 amREGION -- Laid Back Installers (7-1) took over the sun spot this week by virtue of a tough fought victory over Hotel Rumford (6-2), 82-78.
Meanwhile The Bethel Bobcats (7-1) dropped into second place even though they also won, beating Black Bear Industries (2-6), 65-57 in a physical battle. Archies (2-6) bested The Thudercats (0-8) by 87-56.
Dirigo girls take control in second half
Jan 25, 2013 12:00 amDIXFIELD -- When the game is ongoing, there needs to be precise execution and everyone involved should be on the same page. The Dirigo girls' basketball team was able to capitalize when it counted.
What began extremely competitive score through the first quarter evolved in to a one-sided affair as the Lady Cougars turned the tide in a 57-34 triumph against Saint Dominics. The duo of Jessica Conant and Kelsey Hutchins led the offense with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
Lady Falcons get much-needed win
Jan 25, 2013 12:00 amRUMFORD -- The Mountain Valley girls' basketball team put up "one down and seven to go" regarding its remaining schedule and each player realizes the situation.
The vision is certainly pointed in the right direction as Brooke Dolloff scored a game-high 20 points and the ball-hawking defense stepped up in the second half for the Lady Falcons who pulled away for a much-needed 46-32 win against Lisbon at chilly Puiia Gymnasium.

Jan 25, 2013 12:00 amRUMFORD -- When push came to shove, the Mountain Valley boys' basketball team was victimized by a series of missed opportunities.
The Falcons was in position to strike after having picked up the pace in the second half, but it was Madison that maintained its composure in a 57-51 win at Puiia Gymnasium.

Jan 25, 2013 12:00 amRUMFORD -- It was certainly a challenge and the Mountain Valley girls' basketball team needed to come together at the right time. However, there was lapses that proved to be costly.
When Addy Gorham and Brooke Dolloff each hit key baskets to pull the Lady Falcons within three points, that created quite a buzz throughout chilled Puiia Gymnasium, but the lack of offensive execution the rest of the way disrupted the flow and it ended in a 33-28 loss against Madison.
