Eva Sassi Taylor
Feb 17, 2012 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Eva Sassi Taylor, 102, the former holder of the Boston Post Cane for Dixfield, went Home to be with the Lord on Feb. 5, 2012, at the Rumford Community Home.
She was born in Rumford on Oct. 26, 1909, a daughter of Vincent and Linda (Bussolari) Sassi. She attended Rumford schools.
Eva was employed at the Rumford Community Hospital from 1952 until the time of her retirement in 1974.
Peggy J. Mills
Feb 17, 2012 12:00 amFARMINGTON -- Peggy J. Mills, 89, of Farmington, passed to Heaven on February 11, 2012, at the Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center.
Peggy was born on Sept. 14, 1922, in Lisbon to John Darling and Esther Gayton Darling. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1940.
She married Waman Mills of Phillips in Portland on April 1, 1945. They settled in Wilton, where she enjoyed life as a wife, homemaker and mother of five children.
Joyce Horne Keyo
Feb 17, 2012 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Joyce Horne Keyo, 79, of Mexico, died on Feb. 12, 2012 at the Rumford Community Home.
She was born on June 27, 1932 in Rumford, a daughter of Wirt T. and Isabelle (Kilbreth) Horne. She attended local schools, graduating from Mexico High School in 1949.
She married Calvin U. Keyo in 1977. He died on Dec. 28, 1988.
She worked at Stowell McGregor in Dixfield for 15 years. During her time there she was active in the union, serving as the secretary for eight years and the president for two.
