Richard G. MacDonnell
Mar 11, 2011 12:00 amSUN CITY, FL -- Richard G. MacDonnell, 82, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on February 15, 2011. Services were held at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Riverview, Florida.
Mr. MacDonnell was born and raised in Rumford, ME. He went on to join the Navy, He graduated from Syracuse University, and had a successful career in the truck manufacturing industry.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline; five children, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services held for Donald A. Lyon
Mar 11, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- A Memorial Service honoring the life of Donald A. Lyon was held on February 19, 2011 at SG Thibault Funeral Home.
Rev. John Gensel officiated. Prior to the service Military Honors were rendered by the American Legion Post # 824.
Interment with Military Honors will be on Donald’s birthday, May 13, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.

Mar 11, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Funeral services for Joan L. Wiggett were held on February 11, 2011 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Tyner officiating.
Musical Selections were Heavenly Sunlight, I’ll Fly Away, My Jesus, I Love Thee and Safely Home.
Words of remembrance were given by friends. A reception followed at the Rumford First Baptist Church.
Interment in the spring will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Dixfield.
Ronald Leslie Thurston
Mar 11, 2011 12:00 amARUNDEL -- Ronald Leslie Thurston, 68, of Curtis Road, passed away on Feb. 26, 2011 in Lewiston, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Rumford on Feb. 15, 1943, a son of the late Arthur “Stub” and Mary (Glover) Thurston.
He graduated from Stephens Memorial High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Ronald worked for Langford and Low Construction, Nest and Son, and Winding Brook Turf Co. He enjoyed hunting, harness racing, snowmobiling, and four wheeling.
Frances Mabel Garneau Moffett
Mar 11, 2011 12:00 amSANTA MARIA, CA -- Frances Mabel Garneau Moffett passed away on Feb. 18, 2011 in Santa Maria, CA.
She was born on June 24, 1921 in Peru. She lived with her husband, Vernard I. Moffett in Santa Maria from 1986 until her death.
Frances retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years. She started playing golf at age 66 and took first place at the Pismo Beach, CA Men's Club Invitational. In 1992, she received a trophy for having a low net, making Frances the club's champion.
Starr Adamo
Mar 11, 2011 12:00 amSCARBOROUGH -- Starr Adamo, 61, of New Portland, died on Feb. 20, 2011 at Gosnell Hospice House after a long and courageous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
She was born on Dec. 6, 1949 in Farmingtom and was adopted soon after birth by John and Ruth (Robbins) Adamo of Wilton. Starr grew up in Wilton and attended Wilton schools, graduating from Wilton Academy in 1968. From an early are, she was interested in art and was encouraged in her talent by her parents.
Sylvina (DesRoches) “Syl” Mahar
Mar 04, 2011 12:01 amLEWISTON -- Sylvina (DesRoches) “Syl” Mahar, 89, of Rumford, died peacefully on Feb. 25, 2011 at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Sylvina was born September 23, 1921 to Emeline (Gallant) DesRoches (Theriault Richard) and Edward DesRoches. She was the oldest of seven children.

Dickie was born to Daniel A. and Isabel N. Brown on September 28, 1945 in Rumford. Dickie attended South Lancaster Acadamy in South Lancaster, MA.
Ernest E. Gagnon
Mar 04, 2011 12:01 amNORTH PROVIDENCE, RI -- Ernest E. Gagnon, 76, of North Providence died on February 20, 2011.
He was the loving husband of Vilma C. (Grelle) Gagnon, for 53 years.
Ernest was born in Rumford on July 29, 1934, the son of the late Emile and Yvonne (Caron) Gagnon.
He served as a Navy medic in the Korean War, was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1961 and received his MBA from the University of Rhode Island.
