  • James E. Pelletier

    AUBURN -- James E. Pelletier, 53, of Wood Street, Lewiston, formerly of Spruce Struce in Rumford, died unexpectedly on March 12, 2011 at the Hospice House with his wife Susan at his side.

    He was born in Lewiston on October 17, 1957 a son of Joseph G.A. and Muriel M. (Cloutier) Pelletier. Jim was educated in Lewiston and Lisbon schools.

    He was employed for many years as a taxi driver in the Lewiston area and prior to this he was employed with Knapp Shoe Co. Jim was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and Holy Family Catholic Church.

  • Joyce Fern Perkins

    ORRINGTON -- Joyce Fern Perkins, 63, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 15, 2011, at her beloved home on Brewer Lake.

    She was born in Bar Harbor on August 13, 1947, the daughter of Halsen E. and Ola (Gillie) Mitchell.

    Joyce graduated in the top of her class from Brewer High School, and fell in love with her soul mate, Jerry Perkins. Joyce and Jerry married on March 5, 1966 and recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

  • Funeral services held for Bernice B. Comeau

    RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice B. Comeau of Rumford was celebrated on March 12, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius–St. John Church, with Fr. Phil Tracy as celebrant.

    Altar Assistant was George Gionet. Organist was Mark Belanger.

    Music selections were Be Not Afraid, His Eye is on the Sparrow, Ave Maria, and Fly Like a Bird.

    Readings were given by her granddaughter, Melissa Comeau. Eulogy was given by grandson, Craig Comeau.

  • Funeral services held for Marguerite “Maggie” “Git” Gaudet

    RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Marguerite “Maggie” “Git” Gaudet was celebrated on March 11, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior.

    Fr. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server.

  • Funeral services held for Laura Mae Halacy

    RUMFORD -- Funeral services for Laura Mae Halacy of Milton Township were conducted on March 12, 2011 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Linda Kimball officiating.

    Music selections were Rock of Ages, On Eagle’s Wings, and There is a Balm in Gilead.

    A reception followed the services at the Virgin Memorial Chapel of the Rumford United Methodist Church.

    Interment in the spring will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Abbott’s Mills Cemetery, Rumford.

  • Funeral services held for Sylvina “Syl” (DesRoches) Mahar

    RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Sylvina “Syl” (DesRoches) Mahar was celebrated on March 3, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior.

    Fr. James Martel was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist.

    The Old Testament was proclaimed by Barbara Doherty. The New Testament was proclaimed by Raymond Doherty, Jr. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Michelle Belanger and Jeannine Law. Personal reflections were shared by her daughter, Elizabeth Doherty.

  • Faye D. Fenstermacher

    AUBURN -- Faye D. Fenstermacher, 93, passed away on March 8, 2011 in Clover Manor.

    She was the widow of Henry W. Fenstermacher. 

    She is survived by a son, Todd E. Fenstermacher and his wife, Mary W. of Peru; a sister, Muriel Pieper  of Phoenix,

    AZ; five grandchildren, April, Angela, Abigail, Aaron, Arik; and four great-grandchildren.

    Services will be held April 2, 2011 at Salem United Methodist Church in Allentown, PA, her home of 73 years prior to moving to Maine in 2006.

  • Albert J. Girouard

    RUMFORD -– Albert J. Girouard, 104, formerly of Roxbury, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Rumford Community Home.

    He was born in Mexico on November 3, 1906, the son of Fredrick and Eugenie (Googin) Girouard. He had attended Mexico Schools.

    For many years, he was a self employed woodsman, carpenter and painter until retirement in 1971. He was a Communicant of St. Athanasius–St. John Church.

  • Henry A. McCleary

    PORTSMOUTH, NH -- Henry A. McCleary, 80, died peacefully on March 12, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

    Born in Rumford on January 17, 1931 he was the son of Leah (Cormier) McCleary and the late Henry A. McCleary.

    Henry retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of faithful and honorable service. He later attended Nathaniel Hawthorne College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and in 1988 retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

  • Shawn Bedford Daley

    RUMFORD -- Shawn Bedford Daley, 41, died on February 28, 2011 at his residence on Maine Avenue, Rumford.

    He was born in Homestead, FL on March 30, 1969, the son of Hugh G. Daley. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

    Shawn was employed as a maintenance man for Peter and Becky Robichaud in Rumford for many years.

    He had attended the Dixfield Congregational Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
