Steven D. Marston Sr.
Jan 06, 2012 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Steven D. Marston Sr., 64, of Rumford, died on Dec. 28, 2011 at the Rumford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 13, 1947 in Rumford, a son of Walter L. and Maurine (Brown) Marston Sr. He attended Rumford and Mexico schools before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1965-68.
In 1969, he married Sue Ryerson upon his discharge.
As a young man, he worked construction before going to work at Forster Mfg. in Wilton, which he did for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering and spending time with his family.

Dec 30, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Eric N. “Ric” Richard of Rumford was celebrated on November 17, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius–St. John Church, with Fr. Phil Tracy as the celebrant.
Mark Belanger was the organist. Musical Selections included Hosea, Because The Lord Is My Shepherd, Amazing Grace and Fly Like A Bird.
Readings were given by Heather Sorensen.
Words of remembrance were given by Debbie DeRoche, Nicholas Smith and Hart Daly.
Virginia Lillian Viitala
Dec 30, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Virginia Lillian Viitala, 92, a resident of the Rumford Community Home, formerly of Dixfield, passed away on Dec. 22, 2011.
She was born on March 15, 1919 in Jay, one of seven children of Claude Lester and Minnie Maude (Townsend) Averill. She was the last surviving Averill sibling.
She graduated from Severy Hill Grammar School and attended Dixfield High School for three years. In 1938, she married Albert Edward Viitala. Together they raised four children and grieved the loss of their oldest son, August Edward Viitala in 1956.
Carolyn M. Lindsay
Dec 30, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Carolyn M. Lindsay, 86, died on December 26, 2011 at the Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of Church Street in Andover.
Born in Billerica, MA on July 22, 1925, she was a daughter of Harold and Bernice (Lakeman) Plumley. She graduated from Howe High School, Billerica, MA. She worked as a telephone operator and did volunteer work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, NH, then worked as a policewoman in Hollis, NH, and later was a volunteer receptionist at the York Hospital, York.
Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyne Langlais on May 12
Dec 23, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyne Langlais will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius-St John Church.
Burial of Evelyne Langlais’s remains in St John Cemetery Rumford will follow the mass.
A reception will follow at the Parish of the Holy Savior Church Hall.
