Joseph M. Landry
Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amDOVER, NH –- Joseph M. Landry, 87, of Wilton, passed away on Sept. 30, 2011 at the Hyder Hospice House.
He was born July 2, 1924, in Wilton, the oldest son of Joseph C. and Azalie (Richard) Landry. He received his education in the Wilton School System and was employed at the Wilton Woolen Company.
He served in the 150th Engineer Combat Battalion from March 16, 1943 to Nov. 8, 1945 in the Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Battle of the Bulge, received seven decorations and citations and his honorable discharge.

Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Horace “Honk” Worcester was celebrated on August 1, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior.
Fr. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist.
Music selections during the mass were How Great Thou Art, the Old Rugged Cross, Precious Lord Take My Hand, and Fly Like A Bird. The Old Testament was proclaimed by his cousin, Elaine Cormier. The New Testament was proclaimed by his granddaughter, Savannah Worcester.

Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Anita Marie Parise was celebrated on July 6, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior.
Fr. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist. Music selections were Hosea, Because the Lord is My Shepherd, Christ Be Our Light, and Fly Like A Bird. The readings were proclaimed by Barbara Doherty. Interment was in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. A reception followed in the parish hall.

Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Funeral services for Asst. Fire Chief Conrad E. Knox of Peru were conducted on July 21, 2011 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, with Rev. Dr. Timothy H. Parsons as celebrant.
Eucharistic Minister was Karen Phair. Organist was Harriet Rudd.
Ushers were Pam Washington and David McKivergan.
Music selections were O God Our Help, Abide With Me, Amazing Grace, How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place, and Ye Holy Angels Bright.
Delegation was from the Peru and area fire departments which also include many of their fire trucks in the procession to the cemetery.

Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amMEXICO -- Graveside services for Rhonda L. Hutchinson Warner of Finksburg, MD and formerly of Mexico, were conducted on July 23, 2011 at the Farrington–Morton Cemetery by Pastor Larry Shaw officiating.
Words of remembrance were given by her husband, Michael Warner.
Music was provided by bagpiper John Ryan of Turner, who played several tunes including “Amazing Grace”.
A reception followed at Mark Hutchinson’s in Byron.
Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.
Frances Duguay Martin
Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amCONCORD, NH -- Frances Duguay Martin, 85, of Boscawen, NH, formerly of Dickvale Road in Peru, died on Sept. 18, 2011 in Concord, NH.
She was born in Rumford on Dec. 7, 1925, daughter of James and Angelina (Gallant) Duguay. She attended Rumford schools and Stephens High School.
On Nov. 28, 1942, she married Edmond Martin of Mexico. They moved to Peru in 1949 and had eight children before moving to Boscawen.
Mavis "Ma" C. Burnham Dowland
Oct 07, 2011 12:00 amCANTON -- Mavis "Ma" C. Burnham Dowland, 78, of the Victorian Villa, died on Sept. 28, 2011 with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Newry on May 1, 1933 to the late Lincoln and Hazel (Bucknam) Burnham. Mavis graduated from Stephens High School.
She loved to read and shared that love by working as a literacy volunteer helping others to learn how to read. Her favorite times were spent enjoying the company of family and friends, having cookouts, playing cards, playing bingo, and games like Scrabble and cribbage.
Therese M. LeBlanc
Sep 30, 2011 12:00 amPARKER, ARIZONA -- Therese M. LeBlanc of Roxbury Road in Mexico, died on September 13, 2011 in Parker, AZ.
She was born in Notre Dame des Bois, Quebec, Canada, the 11th child of 12, to Arthur and Josephine (Dube) Dupuis.
Therese attended Normal school in Sherbrooke, Canada, and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in St. Leon, Quebec.
In 1947, she immigrated to the State of Maine, where she worked as a waitress and at the Oxford Paper Company, until she met Florent LeBlanc. They married in 1949 and spent 60 years together.
Alcide “Al” Bernier
Sep 30, 2011 12:00 amBATH -- Alcide “Al” Bernier, 97, formerly of Rumford, died on September 19, 2011. Though a resident of Rumford most of his life, he resided in Bath with his son and daughter-in-law, Maurice and Mildred Bernier, for the last seven years.
He was born in Rumford on May 14, 1914, the son of Napoleon and Olive Bernier. He attended St. John School in Rumford, and he also attended school in Canada.

Sep 30, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- The life of Steven Hall was celebrated with family and friends on Sept. 8, 2011 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Special music was sung by Cindy Bulger, The Our Father, and Will You Remember Me; Noel Palmer sang Keeper of The Stars; good friends Charley and Sandy sang a song he wrote, One Day at a Time.
Scripture readings were done by Roger Plante; Sirach: True friendship, and Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd.
Eulogies were done by Geri Viger, Sharon Madore and Jim Barnett.
The last song, I Am Your Angle, was sung by all whom Steven loved.
