Conrad “Connie” W. Hall
Oct 28, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Conrad “Connie” W. Hall, 79, of Dixfield, died on Oct. 17, 2011 at Rumford Hospital.
He was born in Peru on Nov. 26, 1931, a son of Leonard and Esther (Pinnette) Hall. He attended Peru schools, Dirigo High School, and Stephens High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served in the Korean Conflict having participated in the assault and seizure of Inchon, the securing of Seoul, and participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin campaign.
Helen M. Ware
Oct 28, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD –- Helen M. Ware, 90, of Canton, formerly of Turner, died on Oct. 18, 2011 at the Rumford Hospital.
She was born Dec. 15, 1920 in Livermore, a daughter of Harold and Villetta (Randall) Bryant. She was educated in the schools at Brettuns Mills and Canton High School.
She worked at the Priscilla Rug Shop in Turner for 33 years, retiring in 1982.
She lived in Turner for 54 years before moving to Spring Rock in Leeds and later moving to Canton. She enjoyed flower gardening, crossword puzzles, watching and feeding birds and dancing in her younger years.
Ruth M. Tibbetts
Oct 28, 2011 12:00 amNORWAY -– Ruth M. Tibbetts, 102, formerly of the Auburn Road in Peru, died in October 19, 2011 at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born in So. Paris on February 12, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Leonard) Crockett. She had attended schools in Woodstock and Greenwood.
For many years Ruth had worked on the feeding machines for the E.L. Tibbett’s Company in Locke Mills.
Ruth was a member of the Peru Baptist Church. Over the years she enjoyed doing puzzles and spending time with her dog, Jake.
Suzanne Theresa Gallant
Oct 28, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Suzanne Theresa Gallant, 54, of 79 Maine Ave. in Rumford, lost her courageous battle to cancer with her family by her side on October 21, 2011.
She was born January 4, 1957, the daughter of Gerard and Cecile (Melanson) Roy. She was educated at St. John & St. Athanasius School and at Rumford High School.
She has been a resident of the community all of her life. Suzanne spent her life as a homemaker. She loved spending time in her garden, with her family, friends, her dog Gizmo and the occasional ride on a Harley.
Erik S. Perry
Oct 28, 2011 12:00 amDIXFIELD -– Erik S. Perry, 40, of Dixfield, died unexpectedly on October 22, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Rumford on May 17, 1971, a son of Timothy C. and Patricia (Beauchesne) Perry. Erik was educated in Mexico schools and lived in the Rumford area most of his life.
He was employed with the Boiler Makers Union Local 37.
Louise Adams
Oct 24, 2011 4:00 pmCANTON -- Louise Adams, 95, formerly of East Dixfield, died on Oct. 15, 2011 at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home were she had resided for the last four years.
She was born in Rumford on Jan. 1, 1916, one of 16 children born to Frank and Florence (Downs) Burgess. She received her education in local schools.
On June 19, 1937, she married Wesley Adams. Louise was a member of the East Dixfield Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also collected cups and saucers and enjoyed her friends in East Dixfield.
Laura Mary Brown
Oct 24, 2011 4:00 pmRUMFORD -- Laura Mary Brown, 86, of Rumford, formerly of Peru, died on Oct. 10, 2011 at the Rumford Community Home where she had been a resident for several years.
She was born on Mar. 16, 1925 in Wilton, a daughter of George and Beatrice (Hall) Hardy. She graduated from Wilton schools.
On Dec. 16, 1945, she married, Roger Brown. They made their home in Peru, where she worked as homemaker to her husband and children.
Barbara Ann Giasson
Oct 24, 2011 4:00 pmCANTON -– Barbara Ann Giasson, 63, of Canton died on October 5, 2011 at the Victorian Villa.
She was born in Rumford on March 25, 1948, a daughter of Edmund and Norma (Flaherty) Giasson. She attended Mexico schools.
Survivors include her sister, Susan Olsen of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Edward “Peter,” Michael, Edmund II and Larry Giasson.
Ralph C. Virgin Sr.
Oct 24, 2011 2:45 pmFARMINGTON -- Ralph C. Virgin Sr., 85, of Carthage, died on October 9, 2011 at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Weld on March 19, 1926, a son of Alvah and Florence (Hackett) Virgin. He had attended schools in Weld.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy overseas including the European Theater. Ralph enjoyed outside activities with his family including hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.
He was married August 2, 1947 in Carthage to Ruth G. White, who died in 1996.
Henry “Squeak” L. Ferland Sr.
Oct 24, 2011 2:45 pmWINTERPORT -– Henry “Squeak” L. Ferland Sr., 85, was reunited with the love of his life, Joan, on October 10, 2011.
He was born on July 5, 1926, in Rumford, the son of Arthur W. and Mary (McDonald) Ferland. Henry graduated from Mexico High School.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Henry was a member of the Mexico Lyons Club. Folks will remember Henry’s quick wit, sense of humor and possibly a gag gift or two.
