  • Evelyn A. Charron

    ORONO -- Evelyn A. Charron, 94, died in Orono on August 25, 2011.

    Evelyn was born in Boston, MA on June 3, 1917. She graduated from Dorchester High School for girls in 1935 and worked for the National War Labor Board in Boston.

  • Marion L. “Gram” Thurston

    ROXBURY -- Marion L. “Gram” Thurston, 97, died on September 1, 2011 at her residence in Roxbury.

    Born in Newry on December 14, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Bessie (Searle) Learned. She was a graduate of Stephens High School with the class of 1932.

    She was married in Rumford on October 12, 1932 to the late Leroy E. Thurston, who died in Lewiston on April 28, 1991.

    She is survived by a daughter, Karen Hodsdon and companion, Larry Drapeau of Roxbury, Gram’s extended family and her cats, Pumpkin and Spice Girl.

  • M. Geraldine (Allen) Arsenault

    GARDNER, MA -- M. Geraldine (Allen) Arsenault, 84, of Gardner, MA died peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2011 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

    Born in Mexico, ME on December 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Fabianna (Trial) Allenn. Gabrielle spent her early years in Mexico and Rumford.

    Geraldine graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1945. She was employed for several years by Berkey Photo in Fitchburg, MA as a cashier, retiring in 1988. She was previously a caser for 30 years, employed by several different chair factories in Gardner.

  • Sharon B. Packard

    LEWISTON -- Sharon B. Packard, 58, of Auburn died on September 3, 2011 at Central Maine Medical Center with loved ones by her side.

    She was born in Lewiston on November 19, 1952, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Maroon) Banulis. She graduated from Lewiston High School Class of 1971.

    Sharon worked for the Hannaford grocery chain for 19 years, most recently as assistant customer service manager and bookkeeper for Hannaford in Jay.

  • Bernice R. Holbrook

    BRUNSWICK -- Bernice R. Holbrook, 85, of Brunswick passed away on August 3, 2011 at Mid-Coast Hospital, after battling stomach cancer and diabetes.

    She was born in Brunswick, the daughter of Samuel S. Holbrook and Ruth (Grovo) Holbrook. She graduated from Brunswick High School and attended Lasel Junior College and the University of Maine.

    She taught at Mexico High School in Mexico from many years. Following retirement, she returned to Brunswick and assisted in her father’s business, the Pine Spring Water Company.

  • Funeral services held for Viola Pelletier

    REGION -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Viola Pelletier was celebrated on June 28, 2011.

    Fr. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Offertory gifts were presented by her daughter, Theresa Richard and her son, Joseph Gary Pelletier.

  • Edward F. Daigle

    NORWAY -- Edward F. Daigle, 86, formerly of Backkingdom Road in Mexico, died on August 22, 2011 at Stephen’s Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

    He was born in Rumford on May 23, 1925, a son of Anthony and Amy (Hickey) Daigle. Ed was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.

    Following graduation, he moved to Minnesota and attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

  • Funeral services held for James Richard Perry

    REGION -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of James Richard Perry was celebrated on June 27, 2011.

    Fr. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server.

    Reading were proclaimed by Barbara Doherty. The organist was Mark Belanger. Music selections were Be Not Afraid, Because the Lord Is My Shepherd, The Lord is My Light, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

  • Elizabeth B. “Betty” Hayden

    HANOVER -- Elizabeth B. “Betty” Hayden, 79, of Hanover, died peacefully at her residence with her family by her side on August 24, 2011.

    She was born in Hanover on September 16, 1931, the daughter of Ira and Miriam (Cole) Brown. She attended local schools and graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel with the Class of 1949.

    Betty worked at Grant’s Kennebago Camps for several years and at various other jobs in the winters, always managing to have the falls free for deer hunting. She was a Maine Guide for many years specializing in deer hunting.

  • Elizabeth E. Glenfield

    HAMPTON, NH -- Elizabeth E. Glenfield, 103, formerly of Hampton, died August 25, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers, MA.

    Mrs. Glenfield was born in Mexico on August 20, 1908, the daughter of the late Michael J and Florence M. (Kierstead) Olsen. Raised in Mexico, she has resided in Hampton from 1988 until 2009 when she moved to Danvers. She resided in Beverly, MA from 1986 to 1998 and in Waltham, MA from 1946 to 1986.

    She was a 1926 graduate of Mexico High School where she was class valedictorian. She also was a volunteer at Beverly Hospital for several years.
