  • Ellen J. Carey

    MEXICO -- Ellen J. Carey, 68, of Middle Avenue, Mexico, died on August 7, 2011 at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Whitehouse, with loving family at her side.

    She was born in Rumford on March 11, 1943 a daughter of Erwin E. and Alice (McDonald) Gould. Ellen was educated in Mexico schools.

    She married Edward L. Carey Sr. on July 24, 1965 and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

    Ellen enjoyed knitting and crocheting and donated many blankets, mittens, hats, and sweaters to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

  • Francis W. “Frank” Bulger

    AUBURN -– Francis W. “Frank” Bulger, 71, of Spruce Street in Rumford, died on August 8, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

    He was born in Dixfield on June 19, 1940, a son of Earl and Dorothy (Eastman) Bulger. Frank was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School Class of 1959.

    He served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.

  • Ellery P. Turner Sr.

    LEWISTON -- Ellery P. Turner Sr., 77, passed away on Aug. 6, 2011 at the Central Maine Medical Center.

    He was born on Sept. 24, 1933, the son of Mary Porter Turner and Ora Turner.

    He was the husband of Phyllis J. Turner. They were married on Nov. 28, 2006.

  • Linda Florence (Mason) Hastings

    RUMFORD –- Linda Florence (Mason) Hastings, 97, of Rumford, formerly of Vienna, died Wednesday afternoon Aug. 3, 2011, with family by her side, at the Rumford Community Home where she had been a resident since July of 2009.

    She was born April 2, 1914, in Vienna, one of eleven children of Harold and Matilda (Nickerson) Mason. She received her education in Vienna schools and on Oct. 12, 1932, married Charles Hastings in Mt. Vernon. He died on Dec. 10, 1980.

    In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Maine Dowell in Vienna and Fairbanks.

  • Bert W. Knox

    CARTHAGE -- Bert W. Knox, 44, of Carthage, died unexpectedly on August 3, 2011 in Carthage.

    Bert was born December 25, 1966 at home in Livermore Falls. He lived most of his life in Carthage.

    He married his lifelong sweetheart, Sherry Hutchinson on October 26, 1985. He ran his own business-- Knox & Sons Light Trucking & Excavation.

  • Funeral services held for Dora D. Wagnis

    RUMFORD -- Graveside services for Dora D. Wagnis, of Rumford, were conducted in June 10, 2011 at St. John Cemetery, with Fr. Alfred Jacques officiating.

    Words of remembrance were given by several family and friends.

    A reception followed at the Chicken Coop, Mexico.

    Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

  • Alfred W. “Fred” Arsenault

    RUMFORD -- Alfred W. “Fred” Arsenault, 75, died on July 31, 2011 at his residence at the Muskie Building on Congress Street, with his loving family by his side.

    He was born in Rumford on June 30, 1936, the son of George and Irene (Langevin) Arsenault. He graduated from Belmont High School in Belmont, NH.

    Fred worked for Boise Cascade for many years as a pipefitter and on the rewinders. He was a communicant of The Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius–St. John Church.

  • Funeral services held for Carolyn B. Richard

    MEXICO -- Graveside services for Carolyn B. Richard of Mexico were conducted on May 13, 2011 at the Farrington-Morton Cemetery, with her daughter, Linda LaPlante officiating.

    Music selection was “My Hero”.

    Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

  • Horace “Honk” Worcester

    LEWISTON -- Horace “Honk” Worcester, 82, of Highland Terrace in Mexico, beloved husband and father, passed away on July 28, 2011 at Central Maine Medical Center with his wife by his side.

    He was born in Mexico on October 25, 1928, the son of Horace and Margarite (Harris) Worcester. He attended school in Mexico and worked in the Oxford Mill for a short time, then attended and graduated from East Coast Arial Tech in Bedford, MA.

    He was married to Viola Diana Cormier in Saint John's Church in Rumford on June 20, 1950.

  • Funeral services held for Francis B. “Frank” St. Cyr

    RUMFORD -- Graveside services for Francis B. “Frank” St. Cyr of Rumford were conducted on May 13, 2011 at St. John Cemetery, with Fr. Phil Tracy officiating.

    Military Honors were provided by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program from Augusta.

    Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.
