  • Funeral services held for Thomas A. “Butch” Mahoney

    WEST PERU -- Graveside services for Thomas A. “Butch” Mahoney of Lewiston were conducted on May 16, 2011 at the Demerritt Cemetery, with Arthur Meader officiating.

    Military Honors were provided by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program from Augusta.

    A reception followed at the home of his sister Beverly Jasud and her husband Donald in Mexico.

    Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

  • Madeleine A. Garrett

    SHINGLE SPRINGS, CA -- Madeleine A. Garrett (nee Dubief), 85, died peacefully on July 1, 2011 in Shingle Springs, CA with most of her family by her side. Madeleine had suffered with advanced dementia for the past two and a half years and we are happy she is now at peace.

    Madeleine was born in Neuilly sur Seine, a suburb of Paris, France, on March 26, 1926. She survived four years of war starting at the age of 14 when Nazi Germany invaded her beloved Paris and then celebrated when the Allied Forces liberated Paris in late August 1944.

  • Funeral services held for Alice Cox Wilson

    ANDOVER -- Graveside services for Alice Cox Wilson of Seymour, IN and formerly of Andover, were conducted on May 17, 2011 at the Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. David Garnett officiating.

    A reception followed at the Calvary Bible Church, South Main Street, Andover.

    Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

  • Edward F. Sherwood

    STANDISH –- Edward F. Sherwood, 92, of Standish and Lake Monticello, VA, passed away on July 15, 2011. His heavenly mansion was waiting for him.

    Born in Boston, MA on September 10, 1918, he was a son of John and Beatrice Huggard Sherwood. He graduated from Mexico High School in the Class of 1936.

    Mr. Sherwood enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater service medal and a Bronze Star.

  • Funeral services held for Judy J. Blanchard

    RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Judy J. Blanchard of Mexico was conducted on June 11, 2011 at St. Athanasius–St. John Church, with Fr. Phil Tracy as celebrant.

    Altar Assistant was Bernard Poirier. Organist was Mark Belanger.

    Music included: “Be Not Afraid”, “Because the Lord is my Shepherd”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, and “Fly Like a Bird”.

    Readings were given by Arita Zitoli and Ella LaPlante.

  • Rev. Robert H. Plummer

    AUBURN -- Rev. Robert H. Plummer, 87, of Dixfield, left to serve the Lord in his big house on July 19, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn with his loving wife by his side. He was formerly a resident of Somerset Street in Rumford for many years.

  • Harriet Arsenault White

    AUBURN -- Harriet Arsenault White, 79, died on July 23, 2011 at the Hospice House, with her loving family by her side.

    A resident of Mexico most of her life, she resided on Meadow Street.

    She was born in Mexico on September 21, 1931, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Stilphen) Henry Sr. She graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1950.

  • Claire Marie Michaud Richard

    RUMFORD -– Claire Marie Michaud Richard, 80, of Knox Street, Rumford, passed away after a long decline with Alzheimer’s on July 25, 2011 at the Rumford Community Home, with her loving husband and family by her side.

  • Patricia Ludwig Hale

    PLYMOUTH, NH -- Patricia Ludwig Hale, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Plymouth, NH on June 7, 2011 after a short illness.

    Pat was born in Rockland on Sept.26, 1926, daughter of Fred and Ina Clary Luddwig of Washington. She was educated in Washington schools, graduated from Bangor High School and attended the University of Maine.

    She married Elliott (Bud) Hale on July 3, 1948 and resided in Rumford, St. Helens, OR, Washington, ME; and Plymouth, NH. She was a lifelong summer resident of Rangeley at the Hale properties on Greenvale Cove.

  • Carrie (Follett) Brann Harnden

    WILTON -- Carrie (Follett) Brann Harnden, 96, died peacefully on July 17, 2011, in the comfort of her home on Bryant Road, East Wilton, with family members by her side.

    She was born July 3, 1915, in New Sharon, the daughter of Ernest and Belle (Russell) Follett.

    In 1932, she married Chester Brann and together they raised two children in New Sharon. Chester died in 1967.

    In 1971, Carrie married Harland Harnden and moved to Wilton and later East Wilton where she resided until her death.
