Vito Papasadora
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amWASILLA, AK -- Vito Papasadora of Wasilla, AK passed away on June 6, 2011.
He was formerly of Rumford, ME and a member of the Stephens High School Class of 1946. He left in his senior year and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, finishing his education there.
Vito retired after 20 years service with the rank of staff sergeant and moved to Anchorage, AK, raising his family there.
He leaves his wife, Joyce; three sons, two daughters and their families; a grandson, who lived with him; a sister, Jennie Virgin of Dixfield; and a brother, Ralph Papasadora of Rumford.
Shirley Ann (Finnan) Martel
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Shirley Ann (Finnan) Martel passed away on July 1, 2011 after battling a long illness.
Surviving are her husband, Roland Martel; four children, Peter, Paul, Nancy, Terri and husband, Dana; five grandchildren, Christopher, Samuel, Dana, Jr., Nicholas and Benjamin; two sisters, Carolyn Riley and husband, Timothy, and JoAnn Hansen and husband, Earle; and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, a sister, and a brother-in-law.
Lorraine M. Borden
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amDIXFIELD -- Lorraine M. Borden, 81, died on June 26, 2011 at her residence on Mill Street, Dixfield with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Westport, MA on October 30, 1929, the daughter of Manuel and Blanche (Reed) Mederios. She had attended schools in Westport, MA.
Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was formerly married to Wilfred Howland, who survives of Wareham, MA, and later was married to Albert Borden, who has passed away.
Funeral services held for Arline L. Dewar
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amWEST PERU -- Graveside services for Arline L. Dewar of Mexico were conducted on May 9, 2011 at the Demerritt Cemetery, with Arthur Meader officiating.
Words of remembrance were given by members and friends of the family. A reception followed at her son, Joseph and Donna LeBlanc’s home in West Peru.
Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.
Raymond R. Berryment
Jul 08, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Raymond R. Berryment, 78, of Royal Lane, died unexpectedly on June 28, 2011 at his residence, joining his beloved wife, Jean.
He was born in Bryant Pond on August 8, 1932, a son of Herbert E. and Hazel A. (Rogers) Berryment Sr.
Ray retired after 20 years in the United States Air Force, having served in the Pacific, Europe, and the Far East.
After retiring from the Air Force, he returned to Maine with his wife, Jean and their three children, and was employed in administration at Rumford Community Hospital for 20 years.
Conrad G. McIntire Sr.
Jul 01, 2011 12:00 amREGION -- Conrad G. McIntire Sr., 89, died peacefully at his home on May 26, 2011.
He was born in Dixfield on April 8, 1922, one of four children to the late Leon and Bertha Lillian McIntire. Conrad was raised in Dixfield and spent his summers at Upper Dam located in the Rangley Lakes. Through this, he developed a love for the outdoors and always was an active outdoorsman who even after being married would bring his family to the Rangley Lakes for vacation time each summer.
Albert Joseph Galarneau
Jul 01, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Albert Joseph Galarneau, 88, formerly of Roxbury Pond, died on June 22, 2011 at Rumford Community Home.
He was born in Rumford on November 8, 1922, the son of William and Josephine (Richard) Galarneau. Albert moved to Brunswick in his early years and was a graduate of Brunswick High School.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during WWII, and received the Purple Heart, the Silver Star, and the Silver Star Oakleaf Cluster. After the service, he returned to Rumford and worked in the Oxford Paper Mill for 40 years, retiring in 1986.
James Richard Perry
Jul 01, 2011 12:00 amLEWISTON -– James Richard Perry, 74, of Rt. 108 in Rumford, died on June 23, 2011 at CMMC in Lewiston following a brief illness with lung cancer.
He was born in Rumford on January 26, 1937, a son of Joseph E. and Lucy (Arsenault) Perry. James was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years. James was employed for nearly 40 years with the Boise Cascade Paper Mill. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Viola Pelletier
Jul 01, 2011 12:00 amLEWISTON -– Viola Pelletier, 91, of Andover Road in Rumford, died on June 24, 2011 at Russell Park Manor in Lewiston.
She was born in Ft. Kent on December 5, 1919, a daughter of Alex and Henriette (Pelletier) Madore.
Viola was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Viola was a great cook and loved to knit and crochet. She also loved camping at Campobella.
Howard Elliot Donahue
Jul 01, 2011 12:00 amSO. PARIS -– Howard Elliot Donahue, 86, of Mineral Springs Road, West Peru, died on June 22, 2011, at the Maine Veterans Home.
He was born in Rumford on January 5, 1925, the son of George and Estella (Elliot) Donahue. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford Class of 1942.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps on March 8, 1943, attached to the 927th Signal Battalion as a high speed radio operator in the European Theater (Northern Africa).
