Jun 03, 2011 12:00 amBETHEL -- Lisa Marie Buckman, 43, of Bethel, passed peacefully with her loving family at her side on May 23, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer for more than six years.
She was born in South Kingston, RI on September 14, 1967, the daughter of George Randall and Beverly Jean Hopkins Standeven. She graduated from high school and attained her Certified Nurse’s Aide training.
She married Nate Buckman on April 26, 1997.

Jun 03, 2011 12:00 amMEXICO -- Funeral services for Donald E. Haines of Rumford and formerly of Mexico most of his life, were conducted on May 14, 2011 at the Mexico First Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Peters officiating.
Music included “Amazing Grace”, “ Wonderful Change in my Life”, “Sweetest Name I Know”, and “The Old Rugged Cross”.
Gary L. Swan
Jun 03, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Gary L. Swan, 61, a resident of Juneau, Alaska, died on May 28, 2011 at Rumford Hospital following a long illness.
He was born in Rumford on November 2, 1949, a son of Henry E. and Joyce H. (Spencer) Swan. Gary graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel Class of 1968 and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1972.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring as a Lt. Commander in 1992. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he was employed with the State of Alaska Highway Department for 10 years.
Funeral services held for Stanwood Pingree
Jun 03, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- A Celebration honoring the life of Stanwood Pingree was held at on April 26, 2011 at SG Thibault Funeral Home, with Rev. John Gensel officiating.
A poem was shared by his granddaughter, Nicole Jamison. Personal reflections were shared by daughters-in-law, Crystal McKenna and Brandi Pingree, and granddaughters, Amanda Pingree, Kate Cahill and Taylor Pingree.
Music selections during the service were Daddy’s Hands, Go Rest High on that Mountain, and special music was “Cowboy In Me,” sung by his grandson, Troy Pingree.

Military Honors were provided by the Maine Funeral Military Honors Program, Augusta.

Jun 03, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Funeral services for Doris L. Putnam of South Rumford were conducted on April 27, 2011 at the Meader 7 Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Justin Thacker officiating.
Music selections were: “Day by Day” and special music was sung by Sammie Angel, who was also on the keyboard, were “Amazing Grace”, “Softly & Tenderly”, and “The Ballard of the Front Porch”.
Eulogy was given by her daughter, Elizabeth Putnam.

Arthur J. “Bull” Cunningham
May 27, 2011 9:30 amAUBURN -– Arthur J. “Bull” Cunningham, 87, of Rumford, died on May 14, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn.
He was born in Rumford on December 8, 1923, a son of Peter and Lozia (Richard) Cunningham. He was a high school graduate and had attended Rumford schools.
He served as a Pfc with the Maine Army National Guard for several years in Company K, 103rd Infantry.
Arthur worked for over 40 years at the Rumford Paper Mill and retired as an electrician in 1986.
