J. Anita Reynolds
May 27, 2011 9:30 amRUMFORD -– J. Anita Reynolds, 88, of Somerset Street in Rumford, died on May 10, 2011 at the Rumford Community Home.
She was born in Dixfield on December 15, 1922, a daughter of Oliver D. and Lelia (Holt) Welch.
Anita was educated in Mechanic Falls and Dixfield Schools and was a graduate of Dixfield High School. She was also a graduate of Bliss College in Auburn.
She was employed for over 35 years as a secretary at Stowell Macgregor in Dixfield and Stowell Wood Products in Bryant Pond.
For many years, Anita worked the polls in Dixfield.
Naomi Jean Farrar
May 27, 2011 12:00 amDIXFIELD -- Naomi Jean Farrar, 41, died on May 15, 2011 at Mid Maine Medical in Portland of a sudden illness. Naomi was born Jan. 13, 1970 in Rumford, the daughter of Foster and Brenda (Brown) Horne.
She graduated from Rumford High in 1988 and from UMF in the class of 1993. Children and ministries to serve them were deeply important to Naomi and she had been teaching her children at home.
George M. Tripp
May 27, 2011 12:00 amNEW GLOUCESTER/ELLINGTON, CT -- George M. Tripp, 78, of Ellington, beloved husband of Mary “Pat” (Doherty) Tripp, passed away at Rockville General Hospital, CT on May 17, 2011.
He was born February 10, 1933 in New Gloucester, son of the late Percy and Dolly (Tims) Tripp.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He went to trade school in Boston, enjoyed his western movies, and was an avid fan of the UConn men's and women's basketball. He worked at Chandler-Evans/Goodrich in West Hartford, CT for 42 years before retiring.
Esther M. Drouin
May 27, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Esther M. Drouin, 89, a resident of Rumford Community Home, formerly of 220 Franklin St., died unexpectedly on May 21, 2011 at Rumford Hospital.
She was born in Rumford on March 2, 1922 a daughter of Joseph and Concetta (Peperata) Curato. Esther attended local schools. She married Ronald “Lefty” Drouin on October 6, 1956 and together they celebrated 41 years of marriage. He died in 1997.
She was employed for many years at Dixfield Mill and later in the finishing room at Oxford Paper Company.
George Bernard Dubendris
May 27, 2011 12:00 amLEWISTON -– George Bernard Dubendris, 72, of Urquhart Street, Rumford, died on May 22, 2011 at the Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Rumford on October 5, 1938, the son of Peter and Beatrice (Todd) Dubendris. He graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1956.
George served with the U.S. Marines from 1957 to 1960 and also in the Army National Guard of Maine.
He worked as a Methods Analyst in the Industrial Engineering Department at the Rumford Paper Mill until retirement in 1996 after more than 30 years.
Funeral services held for Muriel (Sybil) Dutton Snell
May 20, 2011 12:00 amOXFORD -- Memorial services for Muriel (Sybil) Dutton Snell of Oxford were conducted on April 10, 2011 at the Oxford Advent Christian Church, with her son, Rev. David Snell, officiating.
Pianist was her daughter-in-law, Mary Snell.
Music was “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Standing on the Promises,” sung by the Snell family.
Pall Bearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren: David Snell, Jr., Stephen Snell, Timothy Snell, Daniel Witham, David Witham, Dennis Witham, Matthew Witham and Jeffrey Witham.
Irene F. Thibodeau
May 20, 2011 12:00 amLEWISTON -– Irene F. Thibodeau, 78, of Middle Avenue, Mexico, died unexpectedly on May 2, 2011 at the Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Mexico on September 24, 1932, a daughter of Philip and Eva (Moelleur) Thibodeau. Irene was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School.
She was employed with Diamond National and later at Boise Cascade in the lab where she picked up samples. Irene was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Ralph Hoyt
May 20, 2011 12:00 amPORTLAND -- Ralph Hoyt, 68, of South Paris died on May 5, 2011 at Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Rumford on March 23, 1943, the son of Wayland and Flora McDonald Hoyt. He attended Rumford schools and had been employed as a millworker at Stowell's, Chadbourne's, Bethel Furniture and was an all around handyman and woodsman.
He was a member of the Woodstock Grange, the snowmobile club and was awarded lifetime membership to the Woodstock Fire Department, which he served for more than 40 years.

May 20, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -- Funeral services for Reginald J. “Reg” Breau of Rumford were conducted on April 28, 2011 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, with Fr. Phil Tracy officiating.
Music selections were “Ave Maria” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Words of Remembrance were given by Eric Pomerleau and Janice Sirios.
A reception followed at the Sons of Italy Hall in Rumford.
Millard “Sonny” Parlin, Jr.
May 20, 2011 12:00 amFARMINGTON -– Millard “Sonny” Parlin, Jr., 82, of New Vineyard, died peacefully on May 11, 2011, at the Pierce House in Farmington.
A lifelong resident of New Vineyard, Sonny was born Dec. 1, 1928, a son of Millard S. and Alverna (Wells) Parlin Sr.
