  • James A. Blaisdell

    LEWISTON -– James A. Blaisdell, 81, of Rumford, died on April 15, 2011 at the Central Maine Medical Center.

    He was born in Colebrook, NH on March 9, 1930, a son of George and Marion (Marshall) Blaisdell. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford Class of 1948.

    Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had owned and operated Blaisdell’s Variety Store in Peru for over 18 years until retirement in 1996.

    Jim loved to hunt and fish and spending time at his camps in St. Francis and on Moosehead Lake in Rockwood.

  • Richard E. “Dick” Whiting

    REGION -- Richard E. “Dick” Whiting , 79, of St. George, ME and Indian River Shores, FL, died peacefully on April 15, 2011 at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, surrounded by his loving family.

    The son of Arthur Edward Whiting and Sadie Harriet Whiting (née Jacobs), he was born on July 9, 1931 in Lewiston and raised in the Auburn area.

  • Jeffery Paul McBean

    AUBURN –- Jeffery Paul McBean, 27, of Mechanic Falls, died heroically on April 16, 2011, at the Hospice House, with his loving family and close friends by his side, following a courageous battle with leukemia.

    He was born July 21, 1983, in Strong, a son of Galen and Mary (Lemieux) McBean. He was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. On April 12, 2011, four days before his passing, he married his best friend and love of his life, Amanda Jordan.

  • Joanne E. Metivier

    AUBURN -- Joanne E. Metivier, 57, of Jay, passed peacefully early on April 3, 2011 with her family by her side at the Hospice House in Auburn.

    She was born in Rumford on October 19, 1953, the daughter of Adolph and Charlene (Waite) Johnson.

    On October 5, 1974, she married her best friend since the age of 12, Maurice L. Metivier, with whom she had three children.

    She had many interests and hobbies. She had a love of the outdoors, especially snowmobiling in the cold winter months. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking for others.

  • Wallace F. Virgin

    AUGUSTA –- Wallace F. Virgin, 77, of Brittany Lane in Canton, died unexpectedly on April 13, 2011 at the VA Hospital.

    He was born in Weld on December 25, 1933, a son of Alvah and Florence (Hackett) Virgin.

    Wallace served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

    He was a woodsman, working for logging companies in Carthage and New York. Wallace enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his dog Gidget, and was always there when someone needed something.

  • Virginia (Ginny) Learned Buotte

    FARMINGTON -- Virginia (Ginny) Learned Buotte, 72, of Farmington died on April 5, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center.

    Ginny was blessed with 11 more years of life as a result of her son, John donating a kidney.

    Ginny was born in Rumford on Nov. 24, 1938, the daughter of William and Isabel (Brown) Canwell. She graduated from Stephens High School in 1956.

  • Nancy Martin

    PORTLAND -- Nancy Martin, 85, of Erchles Street in Rumford died on April 5, 2011 at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

    She was born in Mexico on October 17, 1925, a daughter of the late Bruno and Rose (Samarco) Buccina. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1943.

    She married the love of her life, Vincent G. Martin Sr., on October 27, 1952, who predeceased her in 1970.

  • Norman Theriault

    MEXICO -- Norman Theriault, 79, died on March 25, 2011 in Clearwater, FL, surrounded by his loving family. He was a resident of Mexico.

    Born in Rumford on November 13, 1931, he was a son of the late Leo and Stella (Parise) Theriault. He was a graduate of Stephens High School.

    He worked as a soft bleach operator for Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford until his retirement.

    Norman was a communicant of St. Athanasius–St. John Church. He was a 29-year member of AA and was also a member of

  • Marjorie J. Fuller, R.N.

    SO. PARIS -– Marjorie J. Fuller, R.N., 91, of So. Paris, died on April 3, 2011 at the Marker Square Health Care Center in So. Paris.

    She was born in West Peru on October 3, 1919, the daughter of Herman and Eva (Dickson) Fuller. She graduated from Woodstock High School Class of 1938 and Rumford Community Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1942.

    Marjorie worked as a staffing clerk at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Long Beach, CA for over 15 years until retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Long Beach Congregational Church.

  • Norma L. Tenney

    LIVERMORE FALLS -– Norma L. Tenney, 80, of Livermore Falls, passed away at her home on April 4, 2011.

    She was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Dryden, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Williams) Farrington. Norma attended Jay schools.

    On August 1, 1948, she married Donald D. Tenney in Bean’s Corner.
