May 06, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Elizabeth B. Chase, 87, died on April 30, 2011 at her residence on the Swain Road in Rumford with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Steinklingen, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Schmitt) Stadler. She had attended schools in Steinklingen, Germany.
Elizabeth worked at Diamond National Corp in West Peru for over 23 years until retirement in 1985 from the swab department.
Kenneth J. York Sr.
May 06, 2011 12:00 amMILTON TOWNSHIP -- Kenneth J. York Sr., 81, died on April 29, 2011 at his residence on the Milton Road, Milton Township.
He was born January 1, 1930, the son of James and Freda (Kline) York. He had attended schools in New Jersey.
Ken owned and operated Ken York Excavating Company for many years in New Jersey before retiring and moving to Maine.
Ken loved to travel and toured all over the United States on his motorcycle. He enjoyed his farm animals, especially his Rooster.
Mildred A. Herrick
May 06, 2011 12:00 amNORWAY -– Mildred A. Herrick, 98, of Norway passed away on April 15, 2011 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born in South Paris on March 14, 1913 to Leo and Emmaline (Harding) Marston.
Mildred loved taking care of children especially her grandchildren, but no matter who they were she wanted to be called “Grammie.” She loved doing embroidery, going to the library and reading.
She was a member of the Universalist Church in Norway, and worked on many Kiwanis Dinners.
Donald LaMarque
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amAUGUSTA -- Donald LaMarque, 88, of Augusta, passed away at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta from complications of Alzheimer’s disease on April 8, 2011.
Donald was born on a houseboat on Lake George, NY on July 9th, 1922. His parents were Francis Xavier LaMarque and Anna Desjardon LaMarque.
Francis M. Severance, Jr.
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Francis M. Severance, Jr., 81, formerly of New Milford, CT, died on April 13, 2011 at the Rumford Community Home where he was residing.
He was born in Lewiston on August 11, 1929, the son of Francis M. and Alice (Whitmore) Severance. He had attended schools in Ellsworth.
Francis served with the Army Air Force from 1946 to 1948, including being stationed at Hickam Air Field, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Stanwood L. Pingree
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amRUMFORD -– Stanwood L. Pingree of Andover passed away peacefully at Rumford Hospital on April 19, 2011 with his family by his side, after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on January 17, 1931 the son of Ellsworth and Sadie (Cole) Pingree. Stanwood was educated in Milton schools.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
Stanwood worked at the Oxford Paper Company on the No. 10 paper machine as well as the log room until his retirement in 1979.
Elizabeth Aphia Karkos
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amFARMINGTON –- Elizabeth Aphia Karkos, 91, of Wilton, died on April 15, 2011, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of Arthur B. and Florence (Bogardus) Cole. She graduated from Wilton Academy in 1937 and Westbrook College in 1939.
On Oct. 21, 1939, she married Harold Michael Karkos. He predeceased her in 2003.
Waman D. “Lucky” Hotham
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amBIDDEFORD -- Waman Dale Hotham, 64, died after a long illness and very courageous fight on April 17, 2011 at Southern Maine Medical Center.
Waman was born on Dec. 13, 1946 in Rumford to the late Helen (Kelley) Hotham and Gilbert Hotham of Rumford. Being born on Friday the 13th, his family quickly nicknamed him Lucky.
Dale T. Robbins
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amFARMINGTON -- Dale T. Robbins, 66, of Wilton, died on April 17, 2011, following an extended illness, "after the races", with his loving family at his side.
He was born June 6, 1944, in Turner, a son of Merrill T. and Virginia M. (Jordan) Robbins. He received his education in Livermore Falls schools.
He was employed for many years as a track engineer and foreman for Maine Central Railroad. On Feb. 13, 1993, he married Vickie Davis in Farmington.
Georgia Norene Hall
Apr 29, 2011 12:00 amCANTON -– Georgia Norene Hall, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 19, 2011 at the Victorian Villa where she was lovingly cared for as a resident for many years.
She was born June 27, 1916 in Lang Plt., a daughter of Arthur and Winona (Bachelder) Myshrall. She attended schools at Flagstaff, Rangeley and Stratton.
At 18, Norene married Elwood (Alec) Huntoon. At 32, she divorced him and then met her second husband, Louis R. Hall.
