  • Have you seen my camera?

    To the Editor:

I was at the Region 9 Awards Ceremony at the Mtn. Valley High School Auditorium on Wednesday, May 30.

I accidentally left my Canon EOS camera (with the bag and extra lens inside) at the school. I have since called the school and Region 9 and no one has seen it. I do not want to believe that someone has stolen this camera.

I believe that someone has it in their possession and just doesn’t know who it belongs to. If you have seen my camera or know someone who does, please call me at 562-4567. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

In the Good Humor Town, some profitable news that we all could use right about now is closer then you think. In fact, it’s in your backyard, just go look out the window and watch in amazement at all the green that’s growing and you will discover that money can grow on trees!

I’d like to share the 4-H Club Pledge with you: “I Pledge: My Head to clearer thinking, My Heart to greater loyalty, My Hands to larger service, My Health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world.”

Come and ride with the Roxbury ATV Riders on June 16th. It should surely be interesting as they will follow the Wind Tower trail. The group will meet at the home of Mike Worthley at 1162 Roxbury Notch Rd. at 9 a.m. The club is asking for a $5 donation per person to take part in this Wind Tower Ride and the proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Make your plans to attend the River Valley Fourth of July Celebration at the Hosmer Field Complex. There are going to be some exciting things happening.

  • Cooking

Father’s Day arrives at the perfect time. It’s June, the daylight hours are at their longest, school is out, and summer is well on its way.

This day set aside for fathers and other male figures who have played important roles in our lives, came about a few decades after Mother’s Day, by a woman who admired everything her own father had done for his family.

Sonora Smart Dodd and her five siblings were raised by her father, William Smart, after the death of their mother, in Washington State during the early years of the 20th century.

  • Two thankful and blessed people

    To the Editor:

On Saturday, May 26 (Memorial Day weekend), my husband and I had finished cleaning our home in Bar Harbor and were heading to relocate in Wisconsin with two loaded vehicles. The moving van had packed all of our belongings the day before.

  • A vote for Bourret

    To the Editor:

Please vote for Tom Bourret to fill the position of tax collector for the Town of Rumford.

Tom worked as my deputy tax collector since July of 2009. He exhibited indisputably high work ethic, learns quickly and is an honest young man.

He took over all tax collection duties, in full, when I left the position in late February and is doing a terrific job. Tom has walked to walk and has proven he can do the job.

  • Cocca running for Rumford tax collector

    To the Editor:

My name is Kim Cocca and I am running for tax collector for the Town of Rumford.

I am not putting out campaign signs as my funds are limited, and I respect your home and privacy, therefore I am also not going to soliciatate. I enjoy my privacy just as much.

I have over 27 years in public service, and have over 20 years in office experience.

I was deputy clerk in Bethel back in 1995 and left there to be hired in the local paper mill.

  • Colonel Holman citizens were let down

    To the Editor:

I attended a public hearing in Dixfield about a wind ordinance proposed by the selectmen. The tone of the meeting was set when the selectmen declared they wanted the grid scale wind project on Colonel Holman Mountain for monetary reasons.

I do not think they were ready for the 62 property owners, within two miles of this project, and their very vocal, organized reactions.

  • Proud of Rebecca Buck

    To the Editor:

My name is Michael Dixon and I live in Andover. I am married to Deborah Olson from Bethel. We both are currently working for King Faisal Hospital and Research Center Ambulance Services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We would like to take this opportunity to express our joy in our daughter, Rebecca Buck's graduation from Kaplin University in Lewiston.
