Oct 21, 2011 12:00 amTo the Editor:
The Rumford select board has a new Wind Ordinance ready for the citizens. It lets the Rumford citizens control what happens in the Town of Rumford instead of it being controlled at the state level.

I am writing to inform you know that I have been unemployed for two years now and it's unfair!
Since you are gainfully employed, I fully intend to be there on payday this week and take my cut of your paycheck.
I deserve it damn it! I have looked for a good job to replace the one I lost and I am absolutely convinced that you are holding me back and there is no reason why you can't share with me.
OPTICAL ILLUSION
Oct 21, 2011 12:00 amOPTICAL ILLUSION -- Following their meeting, members of the Rumford Historical Society admired the trompe l'oeil (trick the eye) painting over the pulpit at the Rumford Point Congregational Church. The two-dimensional painting gives the appearance of three dimensions. The church, dedicated in 1865, was placed on the Maine Historic Preservation Commission's National Register of Historic Places in 1985. (Times photo by Bruce Farrin)

I read editorials just about every day and I've come to the conclusion that some people just aren't happy.
The governor said this; the senate didn't do that. Whine, whine, whine.
Three weeks ago (Wednesday), a local newspaper came out with a positive article about my family's sauce recipe, which may say was a shot in the arm. The following day, I was leveled by a heart attack, whisked away to Maine Central in Lewiston for 11 days.
Citizens of Dixfield need answers
Oct 14, 2011 12:00 amTo the Editor:
I am frustrated in the fact that no person, including the Dixfield Town Manager or Dixfield Selectmen has been able to paint a clear picture and provide concrete information regarding the proposed wind tower project for the Colonel Holman ridgeline area.
I am extending an invitation for a representative of Patriot Renewable to call me at my home at (1-207-562-9234) in an effort to obtain the answers to the following questions:
Exactly how many wind towers are being proposed on the Colonel Holman ridgeline in Dixfield?
Heartfelt thanks from deFrees family

To the townspeople of Rumford and Mexico:
We would like to send heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people who attended the Celebration of Life on September 17 for our father, Burt deFrees, visited us at Grove Farm later that day, and sent cards and emails.
So many of you have extended your kind friendship to our family and our parents throughout their and our life. So many of you supported and helped our father when he was on his own after our mother Jane died in 2004. And so many of you have reached out to comfort us this fall.
Money could have been better utilized

I'm writing this letter in response to the new domestic violence signs that will be posted on the roads leading to Rumford. I respect law enforcement and am fascinated with forensic science but I do not respect those who abuse their power and take advantage of people and causes for political gain.
The Basket Lady
Oct 14, 2011 12:00 amIn the Good Humor Town, kindness counts as various volunteers, professionals, and citizens have shown a kindness to someone in word or deed.
Several people called me at home this week to share their stories about passing on to others the theme of, get a basket-give a basket.
The Basket Lady projects, 90 percent of the time means a literal basket is involved. However, possibly 10 percent of the time something else is “given” that metaphorically represents a basket.

On behalf of SLCOA (Silver Lake Camp Owners Association)Buoy Fund Drive (Rock & Danger Area Markers in Ellis Pond, I would like to thank all recent supporters for their generous donations to the SLCOA Buoy Marker Fund.
Your commitment to helping the Buoy Marker installation for 2012 on Ellis Pond (Roxbury Pond) is sincerely appreciated.
This fund drive has enjoyed great success in the past months. The community has donated more than two-thirds of the monies towards our goal of $3,130 needed to complete this project (as of September 26).
