  • Oxford County Superior Court

    PARIS -- The following cases were closed recently in the Oxford County Superior Court:

    Michael James Bailey, 46, Auburn, reckless conduct on May 6, 2012, found guilty, fined $2,000.

    Jeffrey Barton, 50, Norway, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer on July 22, 2009, dismissed.

    Thomas D. Beaulier, 33, Norway, driving to endanger, reckless conduct on Aug. 27, 2010, found guilty, fined $575, license suspended 30 days; fined $400.

  • Drug take-back day set for Friday

    PARIS -- The Oxford County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in their old medications. In conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Sheriff's Office will accept unused, unwanted and outdated medications in Bethel, Paris and Porter on Friday.

    The Sheriff's Office will collect drugs at its offices on Parkway Road in Bethel and on Western Avenue in Paris, as well as at the Sacopee Valley Health Center on Main Street in Porter. The take-back is set for from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Prescription Drug Take Back

    RUMFORD -- This Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will officers from the Rumford Police Department set up at the Rumford Police Department to receive unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal, no questions asked.

    If you are not able to bring your prescriptions to turn in at that time we will be able to take them at the Rumford Police Department on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. by placing them into the drug take back container that is set up just outside the police dispatch window.

  • Four Mexico men indicted on cocaine trafficking charges

    PARIS -- Four men arrested in January in connection with a cocaine trafficking investigation have been indicted by an Oxford County grand jury.

    Daniel R. Allen, 53, of Swett Street in Mexico faces three Class A charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, each punishable by up to 30 years in jail and a $50,000 fine. Darren K. Joudrey, 51, of Roxbury Road in Mexico faces two charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, Class B, each punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a $20,000 fine.

    PARIS -- The following arrests were logged at the Oxford County Jail:

    Martin K. Hamlin, 50, of Stoneham, terrorizing and failure to submit to arrest or detention, March 28, Maine State Police.

    Richard G. Masterson, 63, of Harrison, operating under the influence, March 28, Norway Police Department.

    Alan W. Metcalf Jr., 52, of Porter, domestic assault, March 28, Oxford County Sheriff's Office.

    Paul Warner, 33, of Cornish, possession of scheduled drug and violation of bail condition, March 28, Maine State Police.

    Benjamin A. Matthews, 24, Rumford, domestic violence assault on July 17, 2012, filed with no cost.

    Heather R. McAlister, 23, Pittsburg, N.H., operating while license suspended or revoked-one prior, operating under the influence on July 20, 2012, found guilty, fined $250; fined $700, sentenced to seven days, license suspended three years.
