Cougar girls down Bulldogs
ROUND OF 48 -- Addy Fuller (left) and Ryanne Dailey both advanced to the round of 48 in the Maine Principal's Association Singles Tennis Tournament held at Lewiston High School on May 14. Fuller was the sixth seed in the tournament and won her prelim defeating Casandra Wilson of Oak Hill and then eliminated Shelby McGibney of Hall Dale. Dailey moved through the prelim round on a forfeit and won her qualifying round by knocking off Julia Varney of Maranacook. They will play again at Lewiston this Saturday.
DIXFIELD -- In a rain-shortened match held on May 15, the Dirigo girls (7-4) downed Madison (0-11) by 3-0.
Singles: 1. Addy Fuller (D) and Logan Bruneau rained out after one set; 2. Ryanne Dailey (D) defeated Brittany Horton, 6-0, 6-1; 3. Grace Hebert (D) defeated Olivia Demchak, 6-0, 6-1.
Doubles: Michelle Morrison and Lindsy Crutchfield (D) defeated Elizabeth Richardson and Charlotte Thibodeau, 6-0, 6-0; Kristina Friege and Sara Van Lieu (D) vs. Emily Knox and Kayla Linkletter (it was 7-7 (9-7) 6-7 (6-8) set three called for rain).
On May 17 in Rumford, the Dirigo girls defeated Mtn. Valley, 4-1.
Singles: Ryanne Dailey (D) defeated Taylor Dickson, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2; Grace Hebert (D) defeated Elizabeth Adley, 6-2, 6-4; Abby Pinkham (MV) defeated Ciara Keene, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
Doubles: Michelle Morrison and Lindsy Crutchfield (D) defeated Addy Gorham and Kristen Gould, 6-1, 6-0; Sara Van Lieu and Nikole Breau (D) defeated Rachel Averill and Kasey Zadakis, 6-3, 6-2.
