A car for a hole in one
OXFORD -- On Wednesday, Aug. 24, the Western Maine Veterans’ Advisory Committee is having a golf tournament to support our Veterans. All funds received from this event will be used exclusively for activities and needs of the residents at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.
Goodwin Chevrolet Buick in Oxford will donate a new 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche as a prize to the first person who sinks a hole in one on the second hole. Goodwin’s will also donate one of the following prizes for the first hole in one at the remaining 3 par three holes. A set of Calloway razor Irons (4-SW), a three days-two nights at the TPC-Saw grass or the San Antonio and finally a Calloway Razor driver, 3 and 5 wood.
The tournament will be held at Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland, where there will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m. This tournament will use a scramble format.
Western Maine Advisory Committee is still looking for individual players as well as teams to compete in this shotgun scramble. The entrance fee is $60 per person. A catered meal is included in the tournament fee and will be served in the upper function room at Fairlawn after all golfers are off the course. Prizes, awards and grab bags will be presented at the conclusion of the meal.
The Maine Veteran’s Home is a 90-bed facility offering skilled rehabilitation, residential care, as well as long-term and dementia care. The Western Maine Advisory Committee helps to supports residents at this home by providing fun activities like outings, dinning out, whale watching,
