AYF Falcons triumph, 26-7

LIVERMORE FALLS -- The AYF Falcons continued their winning ways with a convincing 26-7 victory over the Jay Broncos at Griffin Field on Oct. 7.

The Falcons took the opening kickoff to their own 20 to start the campaign. It took the Falcons 10 plays to go 80 yards as Kyle

Kenney lugged the ball twice for 30 yards, Keegan Davis had four carries for 22 yards to set up a 40-yard touchdown jaunt by Will Sorensen with 3:50 left in the first quarter, with the point after unsuccessful.

The Falcon defense came up with some timely team tackling in the second quarter, led by Falcons Jack "Attack" Lavorgna, Alex Gorham, Jasper Turner and Zeb Houghton to keep the Broncos from getting on the scoreboard.

Quarterback Cam Godbois orchestrated a 10-play, 94-yard scoring drive before halftime. Kenney went for 27 yards over the left end.

Davis chipped in with four rushes for 20 yards. Sorensen capped the drive off with a splendid 28-yard touchdown strike to put the Falcons up 12-0 going into intermission.

The Broncos offense started the third quarter at their own 35 yard line. On third and five from their 40, Gorham stripped the ball from the Broncos running back to give the Falcons good field position at the Broncos 40.

The Falcons wasted no time as Davis took the third down handoff then broke loose for a 33-yard touchdown run. Gorham drilled the PAT kick for a commanding 19-0 lead with 5:12 left in the third quarter.

The Broncos put the ball in the end zone in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 19-7 with 7:51 to play.

The Falcons responded with another touchdown. Davis had a nice 50-yard run to the Broncos 10. From there Gorham took three consecutive handoffs, to hit pay dirt as he also kicked the PAT for a 26-7 win pushing the Falcons record to 4-0 and the only undefeated team left in the league.

The coaching staff hopes Kyle Kenney has a speedy recovery due to his broken arm suffered during the game.
