Dirigo tennis teams in semifinals

REGION -- The Dirigo tennis teams made into the semifinal round last week, with the boys defeating Monmouth by 5-0, and the girls bowing to Waynflete by 5-0.

For the boys:

Singles: 1. Josh Turbide (D) decioned Casey Smith, 6-1, 6-3; 2. Jeremy Grignon (D) decioned Nick Trentholm, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (15-13); 3. Garret Carver (D) decioned Robert Vickerson, 6-4, 6-7(2-7), 6-4.

Doubles: 1. Mitch Stanley and Thomas Barnett (D) decioned Kyle Brown and Chris Taylor, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4; Nick White and Yossapat Chanarune (D) decioned Ben Bolstridge and Joe Menice, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.

For the girls:

Singles:

Emily White decisioned Betsy Noyes (D), 7-6, (9-7), 0-6; Emily Trafton decisioned Addy Fuller (D), 2-6, 6-4, 0-1;

Hilary Niles decisioned Ryanne Dailey (D), 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles:

Phobe Sura and Hanae Miyake decisoned Coral Howe and Grace Hebert (D), 6-0, 6-2; Abby Coff and Sophie Raffel decisoned Michelle Morrison and Pin Jintasataporn (D), 6-4, 6-1.

In their quarterfinal matches, the Dirigo girls edged out Boothday by 3-2, with the boys taking a decisive 5-0 win over Lisbon.
