Basketball fundraiser this Friday

RUMFORD -- The Mexico Fire Department ATV fundraising committee is sponsoring a fun evening of basketball games this Friday in Puiia Gymnasium at Mountain Valley High School.

Firefighter Matt Winston said the three-hour event get underway at 6 p.m. There will be four different game, including members of the high school basketball teams, a mix of students and the faculty, parents and the kids, and even an event called the Battle of the Badges (fire versus police), with fire and police also taking on students.

There will also be events between each game, including a 50/50, a blindfold free throw contest (for a prize) and chances sold to make a shot from midcourt.

The Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters will be selling food as well.

Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. Door open around 5:30 p.m.

Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a six-wheel ATV rescue vehicle, for which the department has raised a little over half the monies.
