New baseball league for adults
RUMFORD -- The River Valley Baseball League, a league for adults interested in playing baseball, is attempting to start up and play for the month of July.
All games will take place at Hosmer Field in Rumford. Teams will play one game during the week and one game on weekends. There will be a double-elimination tournament at the end of July. This will guarantee teams will play 8-10 games during the season.
The league is open to anyone who is at least high school age up to adults of any age. Players can join as an individual, or may be allowed to enter a team of their own.
Speed up rules will be used. The concept is to have fun and play the game of baseball. Sportsmanship will be stressed.
If anyone is interested they may contact Steve LaPointe at lapointe50@roadrunner.com or slapointe@rsu10.org. After June 25, you may contact by phone at 357-2944.
Ideally, they will have four teams in the league. There will be a small fee to participate.
