Mountain Valley Rec Basketball Tournament

REGION -- The Mountain Valley Rec Basketball League, in conjunction with the Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters, will host the 14th annual invitational basketball tournament on March 22-24.

Usually the tournament is held the last week of March, but has been moved up due to Easter Sunday on March 31.

There will be two divisions, A and B, with eight teams per division. A division is a higher level of play. Games are played at the Mountain Valley high school and middle school. Entry Fee is $350/$375 depending on amount of teams and early entry (registration lower fee no later than Sunday, March 10).

The tournament is a round robin with a playoff format on Sunday, a minimum of three games with as many as five. Included are shooting contests (three point, foul shot and trick shot), trophies and giveaways throughout the tournament. There will also be local entertainment on Friday and Saturday night, including food and drink specials. The MV Boosters will be on hand throughout the weekend selling food, drinks, snacks and apparel.

This is the former Mike's/Sarge's Pub 'N' Grub Tournament, held in Rangeley since the early 1980's. There is an ongoing following for this tournament and a reputation for great basketball and great fun.
